“Of Things Guadalupe” is the first short story featured in Canticles for Dark Lovers by Wilfrido D. Nolledo. The story follows a Filipino guerilla, an American runaway, and a Japanese soldier navigating their way to the Adriatic in a bid to escape their respective fates. Initially published in 1960 by the Philippines Free Press, the story appears to be an early version of the prologue of Nolledo’s novel, But For The Lovers (1970). This is one of the three limited-edition Canticle cards crafted by Kitty Jardenil @kittyjardenil and printed in RISO by Kristian Henson of @ipo_ipo_projects . (Sign ups are closed! At capacity) What if we could map our internal world like a landscape ? Can our personal histories and the fragments of our lives become become monumental? - ipo-ipo asks BECOMING A MONUMENT A workshop guided by Czar Kristoff J.P. @studio.ckjp 📅 June 15, 2025, Sunday, 2-6 PM 📍@_63.ph , @Comuna.ph , 238 Pablo Ocampo Sr. Ext., Makati REGISTRATION: bit.ly/becoming4monument Or at the link in bio ! 🦋 we are at capacity ! Monuments are generally constructed to commemorate a significant event or person. Their presence is also used to navigate a city, a town, a place. Urban monuments reflect how our ancestors used trees, mountains, and rivers as landmarks to remember their way. What would happen if monuments suddenly moved? How do you think we would identify locations or arrive at destinations? How could we become navigators without monuments? In this fourth iteration, the participants and the guide will reflect on the symbolic and material construction of monuments: how they are built, preserved, celebrated, neglected, or dismantled. Through conversations, mapping exercises, and collaborative activities, participants will look into publishing as a form of monument-making: a way to record, transmit, and navigate personal or collective histories beyond stone or steel. *The first iteration of Be(com)ing A Monument was designed for Ultradependent Public School, held at BAK basis voor actuele kunst in Spring 2023.
