Technology is transforming the way youth connect with essential SRHR services. Strengthening Rapid Response Teams for Climate-Resilient Health System From July 28 to August 1, 2025, Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) from Dullu and Chhedagad municipalities in Karnali Province underwent a transformative 5-day training designed to enhance their readiness to detect, investigate, and respond to public health emergencies—whether caused by outbreaks, disasters, or climate-driven hazards. Organized in Surkhet by the Human Resource Development Center with support from Ipas Nepal and Foundation S, the training followed an all-hazards approach, integrating International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) and addressing health impacts of climate change, including extreme weather, vector-borne diseases, and increased vulnerabilities of remote communities. As climate change intensifies the frequency and severity of natural disasters—floods, landslides, heatwaves: this training aimed to prepare RRTs to act swiftly, ethically, and in coordination with stakeholders at all levels. Rapid response team members, including health professionals, engineers, and veterinarians were trained through: Technical modules: Epidemiology, outbreak investigation, IPC, risk communication, RCCE, and psychosocial first aid Practical skill stations: PPE handling, chlorine solution prep, hand hygiene, RRT kit management Simulation drills: Scenario-based investigations in a fictional country Team-building exercises to strengthen coordination and shared purpose The training emphasized ethical conduct, use of local resources, and the importance of community engagement and culturally sensitive communication, especially vital in the context of climate-related emergencies. As one participant from Dullu shared: “This is the right time for disaster preparedness. The training equipped us with tools and teamwork to respond effectively in times of crisis.” #RRT #IpasNepal #Climate
