Echo Mapping opens tonight in Sydney Festival. Here's a taste from rehearsal last night in the gorgeous Sydney Town Hall Vestibule. @jack_prest ’s live score moves from transcendent textures to thundering beats to ethereal trumpet... @azzamxshazam performs with both voice and body, recorded, looped and layered live. .au/events/echo-mapping

Come see the gorgeous sound/body duet Echo Mapping in @sydney_festival this weekend, Sat 17 to Mon 19. @jack_prest 's live score moves from transcendent textures to thundering beats to ethereal trumpet... as @azzamxshazam performs with both voice and body, creating new frequencies to record, loop, and manipulate live. Intimate, in the round, up close to the action... exhilarating! .au/events/echo-mapping

Just back from its sold out season in RISING, Melbourne... this week (Wed 2 – Sat 5) at @ntofp Parramatta's Heartland Festival, next week at @bondifest Bondi Festival (Thu 10 – Sat 12). Super smart, funny, moving... all the good things. Special shout-out to lead performers Mabelle Rose & Edie Whitehead... and their parents :-) .au/show/pov/

Thanks so much for these comments Robert Love! Intimate Spectacle ECHO MAPPING Jack Prest X Azzam Shazam Art Gallery of NSW - Fri 8 Nov 2024 I had seen this impressive movement/sound work in a shorter version earlier this year in Redfern. This longer 60-minute version at AGNSW is even better and confirms that producer Harley Stumm has an eye and ear for what contemporary performances can achieve. Contemplation, concentration and reflection are evident throughout as the movement and accompanying music unfolds in changing tempos, stillness and energy. “Echo Mapping gave us all an intimate and communal experience within a vast, open space. It drew audiences completely in and as I looked around I saw so many smiling faces watching the work. It belongs in public space.“ @katygreenloughrey So proud of this work and this team. Three chances left to join us this weekend: Saturday 2pm, and Sunday 12pm & 3pm ☄️ Image credit: Echo Mapping (2024) at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, photo © Art Gallery of New South Wales, Anna Kucera
