The rumors are true…ya boi has been quietly, ferociously conjuring the solo record of their dreams!! Produced + cowritten by @internet.jake , this album has surpassed all of my feral dreams and grown teeth + legs for RUNNING. Y’all already know how much I love the @illiteratelight fam. It was truly transformative to have Jake produce the latest @shagwuf record. This process has been nothing short of evolutionary + healing both as an artist + a human. Having the autonomy to take up space and feel safe, seen + supported like this was a very new and vulnerable experience for me. Jake + @lanigirlcochran opened their home to me for over a year and nourished my spirit. This is the first solo record that I’ve really catapulted away from my Americana roots, and leaned into the weird that my inner-freak yearns for. I ain’t got no business collaborating with the folks who put fingerprints on this album…yet here I am, awestruck and grateful. At this stage in my life, I’m choosing to collaborate with people that inspire + uplift me. Jake has been instrumental in helping me push myself to new heights. I’m so damn proud of what we’ve made together. Find the people that make a seat for you at the table, and make time for that meal. DEMO DRUMS Batch 1 - Logan Simensen - “StaBa working demo”
This track was really fun to get into! Logan is a long time musician friend but it had been years since we’d played together. He sent a rough demo of a song he was working on that had a great chaotic. I did a few drum takes and kept my approach loose and energetic. I ended up liking one of my first takes because I liked how I could hear myself reacting intuitively to the song before I learned the changes too well which was a good fit for this recording.
