Rainscreen detail diagram documenting an ever-thoughtful orchestration of alignments between two directional standing seam metal panels, apertures, drainage systems, and roof cavity vents for Interloop Architecture’s proposal for the Hempstead Research Center. Founded by two of our early teachers @ricearch , Interloop’s projects (and especially this one) emphasize the tectonics, representation, and details of architectural form. Their beautiful work - and own home/studio - served as an implicit inspiration for our first ground up project, a House for Two Writers.

First semester M.Arch. students present their work during fall 2023 final reviews for ARCH 501 (Core Studio I - Design Culture). This introductory studio foregrounds form, representation, and organization as the foundations of design culture. Design provocations challenge the students to think analytically, gain expertise in analogue and digital techniques, employ diverse representational formats, and work at a range of scales—objects, buildings, city blocks—to address compelling contemporary issues through architecture.
