NEW RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT
I was digging through my archives and came across recordings from my tour in Scandinavia in September 2023 in support of “Our House Is Very Beautiful at Night”. I have such fond memories of this tour, playing in some of my favorite places. Larry’s Corner in Stockholm. Maos Lyst in Copenhagen.
Now did I choose the show in Aarhus for the pun? Of course. But also because that evening at Palmehaven was such a lovely one. Thank you to @rasmus_bc and @palmehaven_ for having me. Thanks @fadi_tabbal for mixing and @josettekhalil for the artwork.
I’m happy that “Our House...” will have a companion live album. Playing these songs solo meant re-imagining them, and I’m glad these versions will exist.

Interbellum exists in the space where memory refuses to settle and time folds in on itself. Through Karl Mattar’s sonic world, place dissolves into feeling, suspended between what has been lost and what continues to echo. The music moves like a trace rather than a statement, blurring the boundaries between noise and silence, presence and absence, past and becoming.
In this fragile terrain, sound carries what words cannot hold, fragments of history, of intimacy, of unseen inheritances that shape how we remember and how we endure. Interbellum is not merely listened to, it is inhabited, like a fleeting moment that lingers just long enough to remind us that nothing ever fully disappears.

“Folds of a Dream” started as a sound-on-sound experiment a couple of years ago and, thanks to @fadi_tabbal ‘s ever-present guidance, turned into a song a couple of weeks ago.
It’s now out on Land 02, the 2nd volume of a series of compilations released by @tuneforkstudios and @beirutsynthcenter to support people in Lebanon displaced by ongoing Israeli attacks. Honored to be in such good company, alongside an amazing roster of musicians from/in Lebanon.
All 3 volumes are available exclusively on Bandcamp and can be bought together at a discount (link in bio). Sales will go to @beit.aam and other local grassroots initiatives in Beirut and the South. Please support if you can. It’s a beautiful snapshot of the Lebanese alternative/experimental scene. Grateful to Tunefork, BSC, and everyone that makes up this community ❤️
