A fantastic result at the RIBA Yorkshire Awards 2026, with two projects we’re proud to have supported recognised among this year’s winners: the Heritage Quad and the Technology Hub at York Minster Centre of Excellence, where we worked alongside Tonkin Liu as environmental consultants and M&E engineers.
A particular highlight for us was seeing the Heritage Quad named winner of the Sustainability Award, as well as being recognised as Building of the Year 2026 — a significant acknowledgment of the project’s balance between heritage, craft, and environmental performance.
Integration is growing, and we’re excited to welcome some new faces to the team.
Riah Wilkinson joins us as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
Hugh Stephens joins us from New Zealand as a Graduate Electrical Engineer.
Harry Singh joins us as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer.
We’re looking forward to the energy and fresh perspectives they’ll bring.
Welcome to the team!
Planning consent has been secured for Torriano Cottages. Originally designed in the 1960s by Philip Pank for his own family, this Grade II listed home reflects his careful use of space, light, and connection to the surrounding gardens.
The scheme involves the refurbishment and extension of the existing structure, with a focus on improving fabric performance, comfort, efficiency and usability for the long term.
Our role focuses on the building services. Working within a listed building requires a highly coordinated approach to ensure all interventions respect the existing structure. Introducing modern systems into a heritage context brings inherent constraints, so the design has been developed with precision to minimise impact and integrate sensitively within the existing fabric.
Alongside this, we have supported upgrades to the building fabric, including window improvements and the introduction of an air source heat pump for heating and hot water.
The project is being delivered in collaboration with Coppin Dockray Architects Limited and the wider consultant team, Whaleback and Stand Engineers.

We are delighted to secure consent from Camden for the refurbishment and extension of the listed 15/15A Torriano Cottages by Philip Pank.
Lead by @Coppin_Dockray Architects and supported by Whaleback for heritage planning, @StandEngineers , @JaneBrockbank Gardens, @integration_mep , and Camden BC’s planning officers.
The scheme carefully extends and refurbishes Philip Pank’s remarkable 1967 house and studio while upgrading its performance and usability for the long term. The gardens and a roof garden will be revived and an outdoor pool will be added.
A key aspect was the approach to the extensive glazing. The original cedar windows, while integral to the design, were inherently flawed - detailed in a way that made it vulnerable to water ingress, condensation and decay. The building had become difficult to heat and uncomfortable to occupy.
A robust case was made, drawing on Historic England guidance and with the support of the C20Society, that replacement was justified.
The result retains the lightness and rhythm of the façade, while delivering a step change in thermal performance - reducing energy demand, enabling low carbon heating, and securing the building’s long-term conservation.
A careful balance between heritage and climate responsibility.
The rendered elevations are the scheme as submitted at pre-app.

We believe the best careers are shaped by the right balance between guidance when you need it and freedom when you want it.
We’re delighted to see two projects we’ve worked on shortlisted in the RIBA London awards!
Reciprocal House Gianni Botsford
This Hampstead home reimagines the classic London renovation. Gianni Botsford replaces the original 19th-century coach house while restoring the modern extension by Sir Norman Foster, creating a reciprocal dialogue between the two architects.
Addison Studios TiggColl
In collaboration with Tigg Coll, we helped transform a derelict Victorian mission church into a sustainable workplace.
Congratulations to Gianni Botsford and Tigg Coll, we’re proud to have contributed our building services and environmental design expertise to these projects!
Double recognition for York Minster Centre of Excellence at the RIBA Yorkshire Awards!
The RIBA Yorkshire Awards shortlist was announced yesterday, and we’re proud to see Tonkin Liu’s Heritage Quad and Technology Hub, both part of the York Minster Centre of Excellence, have been recognised.
Our team provided building services and environmental design expertise for both buildings – delivering an all-electric, zero fossil fuel scheme for the Heritage Quad, and decarbonising the Technology Hub.
We look forward to sharing more about these projects soon!
Trace has reached completion — a residential project driven by reuse, performance, and collaboration.
Working alongside Bureau de Change Architects, this project reimagines a 1980s apartment block in Euston, by retaining the original foundations and primary structure, while extending the building with two additional floors.
Adaptive reuse of this nature requires careful coordination of the MEP services and building fabric. The result is a high-quality residential building with a significantly improved thermal performance.
We’re excited to be back for 2026!
Before we dive into the year ahead, we wanted to take a moment to share some of our highlights from 2025.
A huge thank you to our clients and collaborators for another brilliant year of working together. We’re looking forward to what 2026 has in store.
Last week, our engineers Jennifer Williamson and Mohammed Ataya represented Integration at the Imperial College Autumn Term Careers Fair.
“I’m glad we had the opportunity to share insights about the building services industry with students who might not have considered it as a career path,” said Mohammed. “We had engaging conversations about Integration’s commitment to designing Zero Carbon buildings and the challenges we face in achieving this, especially from an electrical perspective.”
Jen added, “It was exciting to meet so many enthusiastic and engaged students. When I was at university, I didn’t really understand what the day-to-day activities of an engineering job might entail, so it was nice to be able to share that with people in the same position.”
Our success is built on the incredible people in our team, and events like these are a great opportunity to connect with the next generation of engineers.
