“un ctrl” – an interactive performance in which the sound and the visuals were controlled by the movements of the dancer using the SOMI-1 motion sensors. The performance took place at the Ars Electronica festival in Linz and was created in collaboration with Ableton. Artificial Embodiment (Part 1) For monom’s first Spatial Festival in 2022, I got to collaborate with their 3D Spatial Engineer and sound artist Shehryar Ahmad. We composed 3 movements together in 4DSOUND with the theme ‘artificial embodiment’ as I was exploring how to integrate gestures to perform duets real-time with my AI voice. I constantly question what role technologies have in all areas of life and the last 2 years were focused on embodying weird tech to understand them better. Thanks to @instrumentsofthings for working with me on my first gesture-based hybrid AI performance. I got to improvise with @shehryawr as we mapped gestures to real-time neural synthesis plug-in SEMILLA by Moisés Horta Valenzuela @hexorcismos featuring my Gen2 AI voice. Some of the gestures were also mapped to @monomstudios custom 4DSOUND software that allowed me to move my AI voice around the space + their custom spatial effects. This is a glimpse of the 1st movement ‘introduction to Nomeee’ (my AI other self) Leaning even further into artificial stupidity, Nomeee’s become rampant over the years. “The Medium” – A performance with SOMI-1 motion sensors: “The Medium” is a series of two short movement films in which the digital and analogue worlds come together as one. The dancer’s body, through the constant dialogue and exchange with the motion sensors, expands into a sonic continuum and becomes a territory of exploration for cyborg fantasies. The merging of movement and sound is transforming the physical body into a futuristic updated human version, capable of activating, opening up space and connecting deeper with the environment. The lines between impulse and reaction gets blurred inside this multilayered interplay between space, body, sound and movement. The relationship between human and technology is used as a tool to dive deeper into a visceral state of being.
