A great turnout for this evening’s Unlucky in Love? Networking and Showcase event. Thanks to our wonderful actors Ren, Éanna, April, and Eve for bringing the words of Catherine McVicker, Ethel Reynolds, and Sarah Kelly to life. It might have been Friday the 13th, but we all felt lucky to be listening to such engaging new works. Here are the last three entries.
“The two girls working across the road in Eves came up to the office. I was there on my own because the lads were in Dublin. I was talking to the girls for nearly two hours. I would say that I could get on to the v nice looking one. “Ursla” is her name. She brought me over tea and all. I think she likes me”. 8th May 61
“Ursula came up again today and we were talking. Id say I’d get on there alright. She was ringing us again. I was talking to her again”. 9th May 61
“I haven’t been with any of the lads since Sunday, I’m giving them up altogether. I did a lot of painting this week so far and everything is because of Ursula. I think I changed completely since I met her. Something happened to me. But the trouble is, I can’t afford to take her out”. 10th May 61
This was his last entry, as writing was no longer a priority for him - instead it was Ursula.

My job is weird, and wonderful too. Sometimes I get to work on things that imitate life so closely, they become daunting — almost too real. Its scary, but also deeply cathartic.
