🇨🇦 just living! when I was in Mexico City earlier this year I met a couple from Vancouver that basically ended up planning out my itinerary for this trip. life works in miraculous ways. Vancouver is a truly elite and beautiful city. the seaplane experience taking off and landing on water was too dope. I should’ve known the Grouse Grind hike was gonna be wild because they refer to it as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster” but momma ain’t raise no punk! (plus the views at the top!!!) a nice little 11-mile bike ride, randomly running into Metta World Piece on the waterfront, and a lot of other cool things in between. I used to act up in Montreal for Memorial Day years ago (IYKYK). this Canada trip was a bit different but that country never lets me down! got my global entry working OT. 2025 world tour ACTIVE — shall we continue? 🛫
May 3rd was a day I had circled on my calendar for a while, and it exceeded expectations — it was a big reunion in the best way possible. it took no longer than 30 seconds of me walking into the stadium to hear the first “Andy!” and I already knew what type of special day it was gonna be. at one point I was doing laps around the stadium just to see who I ran into.
I don’t think I ever really rationalized how important McCoy and the PawSox were to me until that moment. growing up in Pawtucket, it was part of our fabric. it was always there, it was always something to do. it also, in a way, sparked my interest and enjoyment of being at live sporting events. many years later that translated into an actual career for me. flying across the country for this inaugural opener, a new stadium and team in our backyard, means more than words can describe. and seeing friends & family with their kids at the stadium truly put things in perspective. if RIFC and the stadium can actually mean something and inspire the youth, the city and state will be better for it. HOPE! ⚓️🪣

I might fall in and out of the routine, but one thing I’m never gonna do is fall off. I don’t consider myself “fast” because that word is subjective anyway. there’s something special about the Hood Half tho! I was out there jammin’ with a little group for a few miles then we split. for most of the race it was just me and some familiar streets getting reunited. home court advantage is a hell of a thing. I started reminiscing on all the people that inspire me and that I’ve inspired in this sport. thought about those times I was racing dolo in Boston, Philly, New York, etc. long before I knew much about any of this fancy running stuff. the great thing is learning and continuing to grow. I realized I was running a lot faster than I ever had in a half marathon, and it felt comfortable. 11 years in and still unlocking new levels. had no plan but was cruising off feel, muscle memory, and ended up surprising myself in a major way.
salute to my boy @kitwanajohn & @movementrunners . thanks to everyone for the support, especially my GVTC fam for putting the battery in my back at Mile 5 (and always on the track)! half marathon No. 20 and it was my best one yet. CHAMPIONSHIP PERFORMANCE ON SUPER BOWL SUNDAY! 🏆

another summer in Colombia 🇨🇴 a special 90th birthday celebration for abuelita with over 50 of us for the reunion. we don’t all get to link up often so this always means a lot more … and we were still missing a few. forever blessed. FAMILY OVER EVERYTHING!!!
