What does it take to move from visiting nature to belonging with it? 🌿 Near her home in Torres Vedras, Portugal, artist and ecological practitioner @evgenia_emets walks the cork-oak forest almost every day — noticing the shifts of the season, the signs left after rain, the medicines held in berries, blossoms and soil. In Forest Cycles, we joined her at the forest’s threshold to explore how rest, cycles and deep time shape her work with Eternal Forest — a growing network of forest sanctuaries devoted to regenerating forests and communities. “We can relate to the cycles of flowers, fruit, water, animals. Then we’re already entering a longer story.” What cycles are you paying attention to right now? Full feature in Volume 2. Before the season kicked off with some proper November swells, I spent time surfing easier waves with big fun boards. Longboarding was never something I was drawn to. It was always the speed of a twin or the control of a shortboard that got me excited. But after quite a few struggle sessions learning to navigate and surf a longboard, it started to click. And I have to admit, it feels good. I’m far from being a solid longboarder, but I’ve grown confident with a few things, like turning big boards on a slow, drawn-out bottom turn, or highlining to keep speed. Skills that, in my opinion, are essential when you want to paddle into big waves. Which is what I want. So, all my favorite boards ended up in the corner, and this longboard, which my lovely and supportive friend Kathi lent me for as long as I needed, taught me a lot. Looking back now, I can’t help but smile and feel a little more ready to grab the gun and start training and surfing again when the first safe days appear in the forecast. And I was lucky enough that my friend Hedda, a talented longboarder herself, spontaneously joined one of those sessions, camera in hand, swimming in freezing water at first light to capture some memories from these weeks of training. So big thanks to Hedda @insideheddashead And Kathi for the board @balagan.ericeira And my sponsors for making it possible to keep chasing dreams!! @gshock_de @ion_international

Thank you for having me again this year @openoceanverein and @surfclubedeviana . It’s always such a fun challenge to capture what is at the heart of adaptive surfing and its incredibly inspiring to see what is possible in and out of the water if you have a team standing so committed behind its goal. #surf #adaptivesurfing #adaptivesports #openocean

Morning Magic in Our Progression Week 🌅🌊 The sun had just started to rise as we set off, the air still crisp from the night. First one surf spot, then another—until we finally found the waves we’d been chasing. Boards off the roof, sunscreen on, a quick chat to align, and then the walk down the cliffs. Feet in the cool water, deep breath, paddle out. And then—just joy. Waves that challenged us, pushed us, carried us forward. After the session, we warmed up with breakfast, followed by a detailed surf talk and video analysis—watching ourselves surf, learning, laughing, and celebrating every little step forward. One of our participants @kathinka_e said it best: “A week full of amazing waves and so much progress, but above all, a week full of incredible women. The vibe in the lineup was beautiful—cheering for each other, giving courage, support, removing doubts, pushing and celebrating one another. Laughing and feeling exactly where I was meant to be. Thank you!” This is what it’s all about. The waves, the progress—but even more, the people. 💙 Fotos by @insideheddashead #WaveSisters #ProgressionWeek #WomenWhoSurf #SurfVibes #LineupLove #SurfAndSoul #SurfCommunity #PushEachOtherUp #SurfSisters #MorningSessions #VideoAnalysis #LearnAndSurf
