I've been sick and bored so I scanned my sketchbook doodles from this year.
I haven't been drawing much for myself. The occupational burnout and getting fulltime job made it very easy to move on to other hobbies and just stop drawing altogether. I'm not even mad lol, I don't think I ever fw digital process anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Despite all that, I forced myself to draw 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 once in a while to not get totally rusty (I still did). For a topic I usually picked Moss and Cosma to add depth to their relationship. And traditional mediums were way less frustrating, so here it goes 🤲
1) Main charas and their childhood selves. Moss&Cosma being childhood friends then drifting apart. Future Cosma&Humbeline being inseparable, two souls, one body. And orphaned Humbeline creating a shadow illusion of her mother for company.
2-3) Redraws from manga panels I liked.
4-5) Cosma in AU where nobody dies and nothing hurts. It's an idyllic reimagining of my fuckass town. Cosma runs a handmade plushie store in my favourite building.
6-7) mindless stuff
8-10) uhh the lore.. I hate how everything I made up in high school lowkey ends up happening in real life🙃 basically they had big war in their world. The dehumanised by propaganda nation from Undercave won with great sacrifices. They established peace. But when Collosapolis and Undercave citizens started intermingling, the years of hurt and resentment on both sides sparked some 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴. Which culminated in Apocalypse Trio's bioterrorism attack with a virus that wiped out most of the humanity.
Moss is a nosy bitch so his obsessive research leads him to groups of 'don't trust the government' extremists. Intending to keep an eye on them he gets tangled with Apocalypse Trio, becoming their leader's, Mephilis, 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞.
Moss tries to alert people, which gives Bubble enough time to prepare for lockdown (saving Cosma). To stop the operation he beats Mephilis with a hammer only to learn the attack's been already carried out. In last effort, he runs a script to take over his part in CosMos Leap and retreats to hibernation pod prepared for Mephilis.
Decades later, Cosma finds him.

It's been over a year since I last posted art here, hello!
Once I get the idea on how to present a narrative in a shape of a comic and I visualise the final 'punchline' panel, it's hard to let it go haha. I guess making comics for work rewired my brain and I casually shape life anegdotes in my brain into comics panelling. This one I really liked, so I wanted to draw it. Pretty simple.
As for the theme, it's just some thoughts about different instances of physical touch. For legal reasons they totally aren't about specific people lmaooo. And totally aren't about me, I am so normal and have amazing luck with platonic relationships it couldn't be me 😇 I have great friends and even better family (ʷʰᵒᵐ ᴵ ᵗᵒᵗᵃˡˡʸ ᵈᶦᵈⁿ'ᵗ ʰᵃᵛᵉ ᵗᵒ ᵇˡᵒᶜᵏ ᵇᵉᶠᵒʳᵉ ᵖᵒˢᵗᶦⁿᵍ ᵗʰᶦˢ ᵇᶜ ᵗʰᵉʸ ˡᵒᵛᵉ ˢⁿᶦᵗᶜʰᶦⁿᵍ ˡᶦᵏᵉ ᶜʳᵃᶻʸ) and this is just about some fictional guy probably. I'm honestly not even sure if I drew this, the files just magically appeared on my computer one day ✨
On serious note, p4 is something I never ever said before, not bc it is so traumatic, but bc it's just such a fucking uniquely weird experience. It isn't scarring, just wack to be a routine thing you have to think about.
And about p5, that totally fictional person is alive and well now, so don't worry ✌

Usually, I have a lot of conflicting thoughts about being a sibling of a person with disability and almost none of them are cute or relatable, so I just stfu 🙃 But on a side note of this cute lil comic, I wanna add one thing.
My brother isn't the 'inspiring' image of a Down's Syndrome. In media you usually see the self-advocating individuals who are able to work or be in relationships, 'fulfill their dreams just like us, no matter the disability' yadda yadda. It's not always like that.
Down's Syndrome can be way more severe on one's intellectual development, it can come with other physical and mental health issues. You don't see these kinds of people be mentioned nearly as much, esp in the 'online tiktok neurospicy discourse'. While if you actually go outside to your local communities in like a special needs school or a rehabilitation centre, then you're mostly going to encounter high support needs people. Who don't even comprehend a concept of self-advocacy. Who, like my brother, need to have their teeth brushed and their runny nose wiped.
In spirit of positivity and fighting the stereotypes and 'overcoming boundaries', I'm letting you know, not every person with Down's Syndrome will meet that uwu wholesome image. They can ofc! But don't be surprised if they don't~
And I apologise if my language isn't perfectly inclusive and sensitive, I'm not used to talking abt this topic in english and tbh cut me some slack I've earned my pass 🙏

In case the last card was unclear... It's a reference to 'Cosmoss leap', the co-op game designed by little Moss. They play it daily no matter what, despite not talking anymore. At some point shit hits the fan in their world and Moss disappears, among millions of others... oh weird, why is the game still going?

Second batch of doodles, like I promised ^^
The drawings are mostly in style I do for my comics, but like even more wonky hahah ^^' I told ya I'll try to draw more loose sketches this year, so I am 💪 So far, I think it works best with the cute, fluffy pieces (I'd be too embarrassed to draw it realistically ngl /_ \).
1,2 - I rlly liked Moss's expression on a sketch 👌 So much so I redrew it in digital 😌
3 - just my bois in their casual clothes, I like their poses here :>
4 - it's a slightly older drawing of them riding a train to spent vacations at Dorka's house by the ocean. Moss is playing some ancient game, as usual. Cosma is doing embroidery ✨
5 - alternative Cosma design for AU where everybody lives and nothing hurts. In that setting Cosma runs a shop with handmade plushies in an old brick tenment house. He lives in the attic apartment above the shop. I think of it when I'm particularly done with life.
6 - just how their study sessions would go~ I imagine Tetra has mostly online education system. So, for younger kids to socialise, there's a whole infrastructure of free 'third places'/common room spots/daycare, for them to do self-studies and just hang out.
7, 8, 9 - more doodles ✨ bunny ears are a common festive thing for their winter holidays 🐇❄
10 - random addition of one of my ooold OC's, Romore. When she was made I couldn't draw at all >< So nowadays, I draw her from time to time, just bc I can 😎

1st one is uhh spoiler to Cosma's story, but like?? do you even know enough about him to be spoiled? idk lol ><" I've mentioned he gains an ability to grow wings, I think?? it happens in a post-post-post game arc in Ome world, so don't worry abt it. Wings look cool, that's all ya need to know.
On 2nd pic I was trying to draw younger versions of Cosma, bc since I added Moss to his life, I've been thinking about his childhood and teens. Cosma meets Moss when he's 6 yo. They're besties throughout teens. 19 yo is when Cosma starts uni (he was pushed to start education earlier).
4,5 spread is Cos n Moss just hangin out. Or Moss fucking off to play games, while Cosma is trying to study but he's still chatty. I think they'd spend whole days like that at Shurpec's family place 😌
🌹Side note: teen Moss has rosacea acne, not a permament blush & teen Cosma has regular acne (not freckles). Like normal ppl yanno~
6 th slide uhh.. it's a sneak peak at a continuation of my 'Nyctantes' short story. I'm still fucking writing this shit bc Cosma proves to be difficult af to talk to ;w; And whole plot is about Tatsuro trying to convince him to take breaks from work and do general self-care. If you like that snippet, let me know bc I need strenght to finish it 🙏🧎♂️

I saw a knight lady with a mushroom helm and was like 'say no more'. It was so refreshing to have an illustration idea come to me so easily ^^ And it gave me an excuse to try new digital painting style, kinda watercolour-ish. Still needs practice but I like where it's going~
Overall it was super fun process and a great excuse to do something nice for a friend ^^ Thanks for staying cool with me dude 🐌🤝🐀 Let's treat is as an early christmas present from me ^^'

TW: non-graphic blood (2nd slide)
An attempt at more manga-style was made. I think I need to work on thinner lineart to make it work tho.
The story behind this drawing is that MyAnimeList reminded me that 'Veil (Fire Force ending song), has a cool original MV. Then I remembered that Fire Force is set in the same universe as Soul Eater. Which led me to listen to all Soul Eater openings 💀🌙
It may sound silly, but songs from anime I like are one of the only things that can make me feel physically happy. Thanks to meds I rarely get to feel intense emotions in my body. Good or bad, none. Luckily, music is an exception 👌 It's like reexperiencing all the fun I had with a show but in a one intense song. It can shortly fill me with so much energy, that I can't contain it.
Point is, 'PAPERMOON' by Tommy heavenly6 never fails to hype me up. Like a lot. Like 'I need to punch something' lot. It sooo made me want to draw a fight scene 😤
First character that came to my mind was Moss ><' I honestly relate to him much more than to Cosma. It's hard to explain, but you know how on Exploorin I talk abt wanting to fistfight people who leave their thrash in the wild? That's the Moss-part of my personality talking 😌
Lore-wise, I still haven't decided if this scene even happens 🙃 Moss will have an interesting role in this world, but it needs more thought~

It was my birthday a few days ago and I wanted to draw something cute for myself, greetings card style. The thing is, I don't have a good sense of aesthetic for decorative, '''girly''' things. I am bad at making things look nice and fancy, like with packing presents, decorating a room or designing ornaments, you feel me? I like cute things but I'm too uh.. rough? of a person to create them easily ><'
It got me searching for inspiration and that's how I remembered the Strawberry Shortcake cartoon. I used to watch it as a child and loved the character design there. Imagine my joy when I've learnt about even better designs from the 80s greeting cards. They are so fire I couldn't help but want to recreate this style 👌😔💗

In case you missed it, Moss is Cosma's childhood friend and a data archaeologist. Their world has a mysterious, blank past, which he's progressively becoming more and more obsessed with. Looking for truth, often at an expense of his relationships.

Moss was stuck up and socially inept as a kid. He didn't socialise in daycare, choosing to play on 'lame' ancient consoles in a Quiet Room instead. Until one day, a new person showed up. A boy so scared of noise that he also hid in a Quiet Room. He wasn't annoying like the rest of kids. He liked to talk about nature documentaries and told Moss he looks 'cute and fluffy' like a bunny. So he took that personally.
Cosmoss Leap is a game Moss made only for him and Cosma to play. And everything about it is a love language. They continued to play it daily even when Moss moved to another continent, when they stopped talking, when the world ended. They always took care of the other's character, so the other could play tommorow, and the day after...

For context, Cosma struggles with work-life balance. As a student he was especially bad, bc living alone doesn't help. At some point he went on an exam, passed with flying colours, then walked outside and collapsed right away. This scene is an aftermath of that day.
Fr tho, I'm sorry that it turned out so dark ;w; I focus on individual characters. So it may not be obvious that Ome is a antiutopia. They have futuristic tech, but society isn't doing much better from it. And this particular idea seems fairly possible in our future, which makes it even worse <: Not to badmouth 'the copy-paste-we-care' number but... 😶
