Afincado en Nueva York, el saxofonista y compositor 𝗜𝗴𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁 vuelve a este club tras su participación el pasado octubre en el Festival Internacional de Jazz Contemporáneo del Jimmy Glass, para presentar su último álbum, 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩, un nuevo proyecto que cuenta con el gran pianista argentino 𝗟𝗲𝗼 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀𝗲.
Este trabajo surgió a raíz de un proyecto multimedia centrado en una preocupación ambiental universal, con proyecciones de vídeo y un coro, que Lumpert. El álbum se grabó tras un único ensayo y en una sola sesión de un día en el estudio de grabación Samurai Hotel de Nueva York.
El disco refleja el espíritu espontáneo de su creación, sus temas urgentes y emotivos, y está inspirado en el huracán Sandy (Lumpert se encontraba en Nueva York en 2012), el tsunami de Japón de 2011 (tenía amigos allí) y el huracán Katrina.
La pieza que abre el álbum canaliza la música espiritual de John Coltrane hacia la apremiante crisis climática actual. Lumpert, quien estudió y realizó giras con Reggie Workman, posee un potente y dominante sonido de saxo tenor, y junto con Genovese, quien a menudo acompaña al piano de McCoy Tyner, lidera al cuarteto en una interacción intensa y poderosa.

First taste of 2025 in 2026. This clip was taken during the Igor Lumpert InnerTextures ‘Drum Gods EU Tour’ this past November, performing at @stockwerkjazz in Graz, an old haunt with a famous cuisine for both pre and post show. We’ve played here several times and has always been a pleasure. This tune will be on the upcoming album we just recorded in December at @bunkerstudio , here though featuring the illustrious Stephan Crump on bass, who came in with little time to prepare and did an incredible job with the music. It was such an honor and joy to get to perform with him and was a wonderful, albeit exhausting, time on the road together in Europe, and i’m looking forward to the next time we get to play.
