A few months ago I went to @sharmadeanreid book launch @theconduitlondon and thought that I’d love to do something in that space whether it’s a styling session or a movement session, literally anything. Then @kobsywobsy sent me their application for a popup, which I applied for very casually I feel. And to my massive surprise I was invited to participate in their popup on the 5th of October (next Saturday) 9am-5pm. And I would obviously love to see you all there partially because I’m there, partially because I know for a fact there will be loads of cool brands there with sustainability at the core ☺️
Doing a popup at @theconduitlondon next Tuesday 9am-3:30pm 💃 very excited to bring some cute Christmas gems with me beautifully shot by @jackson_ducasse
Come say hi to me if you have time ❤️
I’m so thrilled to be alive 😂 I am thrilled about this majorly oversized second hand Burberry trench that I paid £120 instead of £400. One good thing about going smaller towns in the uk is cheaper vintage. This was found in Bournemouth.
If you read this far you shall know that I’m currently posting more on @phoenix___007 including fashun, cause 3 pages are giving me a headache.
Is too much to ask to dance in pretty clothes that I styled for a living 😂 create fun projects involving dance and fashun, have a creative team, have a budget that is actually good and not pennies?
I keep talking how I’ve achieved nothing, but I’ll say that when I was 19-20 doing shoots, if I stumbled, I’d stop dancing, have a fit 😂 now I stumble and I’m like oh well keep dancing, go into floorwork- that’s the point of it 😂
Thank you @junglespicemedia for an efficient catchup, an amazing atmosphere, great directing and obviously filming skills ❤️
Ps music is only used for entertainment. No one is making money off it 🙄
The worse I feel the better the outfit. It just works (for me). If I feel crappy, taking time to pick at outfit and especially wear items that don’t get worn as often (this chunky Cardi used to be worn non stop but it took a break and it needed a come back) makes me happy. I feel like a genius or just feel I took time to do something for myself and that makes me happy. Because when I’m busy, I grab the usual combo and run with it. I also want to utilise the strange weather to wear stuff that’s too cold to wear during winter and too hot to wear during summer. What are the little things that cheer you up? (Doesn’t have to be clothing related).
I just am not smiley this year 😂 it’s not giving. I’m forever tired. But realised I never shared this outfit and I like it (take the coat away, it’s too grey).
I keep thinking about sustainability and whether I can really call myself sustainable. I pay attention to clothes, I do my best not to shop in high street (i occasionally do, maybe twice a year, damn you Cos and Uniqlo). A lot of items in my wardrobe aren’t second hand, a lot are. I support some smaller brands but I don’t always do so. I have luxury items in my wardrobe, some are second hand, some are new, although I do find luxury fashion more and more obscene both in terms of price and lack of customer service. I feel I’m more conscious of the choices I’m making than I am sustainable. I care for my clothes, I fix them (including my beloved high street backpack, shockingly not featured here), I care about fabric quality, I care about wearability- because no matter how sustainable the item is - if I won’t wear it often enough, I don’t see the point. I do have dresses that I only wear once or twice a year (my beloved 1930s gown that is silk and is fragile and needs a major ball room for it to be worn). But I still do not regret buying it, because I feel I have an antique art piece in my wardrobe that I get to wear… my relationship w fashion is quite complicated 😂 to say the least tbc…
A real life video of me getting ready 😂 it started with jeans but then it started raining and I have perfect wellies for rain so then the whole look had to be styled around them. I also wanted to wear my vintage leather coat bought in Leicester. And I’m pleasantly surprised (but also not surprised) that this sequins skirt that was also a charity shop find is being worn. I wanted one for at least 2-3 years. Most of the times thinking about an item helps me make a better decision. I hate being pressured and pushed to buy. I like my clothes and I want to honour them by wearing and caring for them. Also feels more celebratory to finally find the piece you wanted after a long wait (doesn’t have to be 2-3 years 😂)
Decided to try the whole shove your jeans into boots “micro trend”? Or just a practical decision- I’m unsure? But I kinda felt cool. I’m not done w winter wardrobe yet but I can now layer less underneath my coats and not wear heavy duty puffers. Some coats need to go dry cleaning, others need a repair- will share my poor well worn coat soon! If you need help to sort out your wardrobe during this transition, DM me for packages! Cause it is time 😂💃
Quick tip to do a monochrome look. Since no one has time or resources to buy two or more perfectly colour matching items, I like to mash up all the items I have in that colour. The more the better. That way if 2 shades of pink don’t work together, you add more random pink and it ends up coming together nicely.
More on vintage stores and Paris while I’m on it.
I think my favourites are the curated ones and a variety of designer and smaller/ newer brands (£20 to £500) 😂 actually being in Paris and going to various vintage and second hand stores made me respect people who do the job even more. The reason why vintage may cost more besides the rarity/ brand of an item is really the work that the buyers do in order to give you these rare cool pieces and how they present and curate them.
Shops in order:
- First one was downstairs in Printemps in the jewellery section called Antic and Tonic. The rings I tried on we all heavy full weight silver, making them pricey (€70-250)
- Second was a store that I fell in love with which had a gorgeous Burberry cape (€500) but also had Ganni, Zara (but curated), Balmain pieces. So I appreciated the range and the love that was put into the shop. @yallastoreparis
- Retro (the usual range- jeans/ T-shirts/ corsets and fur coats ofc cause Paris)
- More usual range stores full of basics
- Bobby was class!! So many Galliano newspaper print pieces in one place - range is €70-up (Balenciaga boots for €448 etc)
- Opulence was just Chanel and Hermes Birkin bags / jewellery so no pics
- La Marelle was an “older” selection. Still full of gems and in a very cute passage! Had perfume and makeup too.
- Fashion vintage seemed to have loads of Chanel bags including all the viral ones- I never went in as I roughly can imagine the price range is thousands and up and I’m not looking for a Chanel bag…
