I had the honour of presiding over the 28th Graduation Ceremony of the Railway Technical Institute, where we celebrated the successful completion of training by the 2024/2025 sets of trainees drawn from the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
This ceremony represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to strengthen capacity within the railway sector and to develop a technically proficient workforce capable of sustaining and advancing rail operations across the country.
The graduating trainees underwent intensive and structured training in key areas including railway operations, engineering systems, safety protocols, and modern rail technology. Their successful completion of this programme is a testament to their dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence.
As a Corporation, we recognize that human capital development remains central to the revitalization and modernization of Nigeria’s railway system. Our collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment continues to play a vital role in equipping Nigerian youths with relevant technical skills, while also contributing to national efforts aimed at reducing unemployment and promoting sustainable economic growth.
During the ceremony, I charged the graduates to uphold the core values of professionalism, safety, integrity, and service delivery as they transition into the workforce. They have been trained not only as technicians and operators, but as critical stakeholders in the ongoing transformation of the railway sector.
The event also featured the presentation of certificates and recognition of outstanding trainees who distinguished themselves during the course of the programme.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation remains committed to continuous training, institutional strengthening, and strategic partnerships that will ensure the long-term sustainability and efficiency of rail transportation in Nigeria.
