Inflection Volume 13: DETAIL
The architectural detail is a site of pride for architects where practice and theory are expressed; where intent and outcome are most potent.
It is at the level of the detail where designers are simultaneously challenged and comforted. While the visceral precarity of international political and financial realms is felt in increasing detail, our anxieties can be soothed by the fetishization of a favourite space at a certain scale. Inflection vol. 13 explores the potential of detail to understand, alter, and improve the built environment. We invite multidisciplinary contributors to create scholarly insights that explore detail.

About Parts of Practice - Pedagogies:
The entanglement of architecture practice and design education has a long history with many renowned architects supporting the early stages of their careers through critical engagement with tertiary pedagogies.
Studio and electives enable emerging practitioners to test ideas, briefs and methodologies outside of their architectural practice and explore these with a student cohort of young thinkers of the upcoming generation. Yet, pedagogical practice remains largely unacknowledged despite its generative and enriching contribution to an architect’s practice.
Join Simona Falvo, James Bowman Fletcher, and Anna Jankovic to hear about the multiple ways that pedagogical practice is a valuable and integral part of practice. This panel discussion will focus on the symbiotic relationship between emerging practitioners and architectural education, with a focus on the multiple, and often subtle, ways in which practice and teaching influence each other.

Inflection Volume 12: LOVE
Love is a concept which does not sit comfortably within mainstream architectural discourse, perhaps regarded as too trivial or intangible for serious academic attention. This theme however carries considerable potential to reframe issues that have pervaded architectural thought in recent decades and foster deeper connections between practitioners and the people and environments influenced by their work. Inflection vol.12 invites contributors to reconsider these relationships and the relevance of love to the discipline of architecture.
