As we navigate through these times of uncertainty, it has been very clear that we are not safe within our own Country and we never really have been have we ? ……. My people and other indigenous kin have never been safe on stolen lands and have continued to navigate life in what seemed to be a post apocalyptic world . Yet it’s not in the past , it is here and now still . The current administration creates fear and division within our communities and country and within our relationships with other Nations . Fear leads to separation and separation leads to war. When you think about the future , what does it look like? We have a responsibility to set out future generations up for success and we are failing to do so .. When @josue_foto asked me to be part of this @stvndingstrong project 3 years ago he prompted me to write a message to the world and the future . I said “what should I write?” He responded “a message to the future. What is your message to the future?” I said “to be a Good Ancestor” , and started writing this short message that would fit into a 1 minute audio space . My hopes is that this message outlives us and continues forward movement around the world and into the next 7 Generations and beyond . We are all related , One Heart One Mind , that is our teachings from our Tribal Elders . To be a Good Ancestor and leave a good trail for others to find easily . What is your wish for the future ? Visualize it . Speak it into existence . Be a good person. Do the right thing . Love is universal and transcends borders and races . We are all connected and have alot of work to do 🙏🏾 - @acosia_ “We are honored to present to you @stvndingstrong a multimedia intervention to honor the past, present and future.” - @josue_foto Powered by @ndncollective @catchlight.io @portlandgov @bemo.dose @indigena @josue_foto

COMMUNITY MADE - Designed in collaboration with @xiuhtezcatl + @josue_foto + @indigena . 💚 [link in bio] In support of Chinampa Temachtiani (@chinampa_temachtiani ). 🖤 “Our community ties teach us that we are the land. This album, TONATIUH (my middle name meaning the sun in Nahuatl) inspired much of this collection through the way we rooted it in our homelands, made entirely with community in the image of our love for our people and where we come from. The stories of the album that live through this collection are also for the many of us who cannot easily return to our homelands, but refuse to forget where we are from. A vision of a free world for everyone requires an end to colonial borders, and the return of land to its traditional stewards. Chinga la migra, y cada frontera colonial desde Mexico a Palestina.” - Xiuhtezcatl We encourage you to follow and support the work of @xiuhtezcatl + @josue_foto + @indigena + @chinampa_temachtiani

In today’s good news… Lakota youth + tribal leaders have stopped drilling near Pe’ Sla in the Black Hills. This victory follows a week of concentrated action by community and tribal leaders in South Dakota to protect the land. From the land defenders who occupied two active drill pads for a week, to fighting in the courts through multiple lawsuits and a temporary restraining order, this win is multi-faceted and offers a blueprint for future land defense fights. What happened? On February 27 the U.S. Forest Service approved a permit allowing exploratory drilling within a two-mile buffer zone surrounding Pe’ Sla. Pe’ Sla is sacred to the Lakota, who have visited the site for thousands of years. It is actively utilized for prayer, ceremony, and cultural activities – and with today’s victory, will be the site for many more ceremonies to come.  Yesterday, NDN Collective was notified that Pete Lien & Sons sent a letter to the United States Forest Service, officially withdrawing their plan of operations for the Rochford Mineral Exploratory Drilling Project (RMEDP) at Pe’ Sla.  Follow ndncollective to stay up to date 📸: Angel White Eyes (@angelwhiteeyes )

Collaboration has no ceiling. When we make intentional space for it something opens. The people in front of the lens stop performing and start revealing. It becomes a quiet dance between what was, what is and what’s trying to arrive. You don’t know what it will become. You trust it anyway. With @parentsofsonic we followed that feeling all the way through. In the middle of a cold Berlin winter we found light Or maybe it found us.

Radical creativity lives within each of us. When did we believed we weren’t the creators? The last year has been a meditation of transition. Both personally and creatively. For months I wasn’t able to pick up my cameras. In one hand they were in a shipping container across the Atlantic, on the other I was just blocked. My creative antenna was in survival mode. Unable to connect back to source. Now I’ve landed. Still grieving and grounding but looking towards this next chapter. I went inward to find my light again. Free. In this process I met @parentsofsonic a dynamic DJ duo. We planned to make new press images and create. This was a blessing for all of us. For the session we wanted to show their authentic selves while surrendering to the magic of film photography. This is my favorite medium. You never know what you are going to co-create. It was an honor to see them through the lens and reflect back their own communion. I don’t know where this next chapter is going to guide me towards, all I know is that I trust. In creation, collaboration and community. - Josue How do you connect to your creative flow?

In collaboration with @xiuhtezcatl + @josue_foto + @indigena . 💚 [link in bio] In support of Chinampa Temachtiani (@chinampa_temachtiani ). 🖤 “Land Back, is an expansive vision that includes the liberation of all oppressed peoples, knowing that correcting course in our relationship with the land we stand on is the foundation of dismantling oppressive systems that obstruct justice for all.” “Much of this collection is inspired by the power of love overcoming colonial borders. That I’ve witnessed that conflict between the love of our people and the violence of the systems that keep us apart my entire life. Now more then ever that contradiction is being visibilized, as the love and strength of our communities is all that stands between us and the growing violence of the state.” — Xiuhtezcatl (@xiuhtezcatl ) We encourage you to follow and support the work of @xiuhtezcatl + @josue_foto + @indigena + @chinampa_temachtiani
