How is AI changing the ways you work? And how you plan for the future?
These are questions a lot of people are wrestling with at the moment. To many, it means fear of uncertainty and a dystopian future no one wanted in the first place. For others, it’s a new frontier where opportunities to leverage creativity and old skool human to human relationships becomes key to unlocking our ultimate potential.
We tend focus on the latter. Finding creative ways to employ AI as a way to augment and amplify the creativity and drive within us to move ourselves and the world forward.
There will be a handful of moments in your life that change everything. You may not realize it at the time, but each one picks you up and puts you on entirely different track than you were on previously.
Don’t long to go back but build on the momentum that each of these offers to get closer to the goals you’re working towards.
The biggest threat to producing an elite company, family or product is rarely coming from an outside actor.
Competitors don’t kill, but internal conflict, confusing goals and lack of trust do- 100% of the time.
Clear shared goals can create a high trust environment where people can move past peacocking to getting to the heart of the roadblocks that need to be removed and obstacles that need to be overcome to make real progress everyone on the team can be proud of.
HOW TO SPOT A GRIFTER 101:
1. If the curse word to unique insight ratio is flipped, COOKED
2. If the pitch begins with them marginalizing you and making you feel bad about yourself, COOKED
3. If the narrative is that the future is bleak and you’re hopeless without them, COOKED
4. If they’re being paid by the company that’s going to “save” you, COOKED
Victor Hugo famously said “Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come”.
Funny thing is, when these ideas come they’re rarely exclusive to the receiver. You see their power isn’t in the individual it’s in the individuals ability and boldness to act on them.
Too many sit and watch these ideas float by because their ego or insecurity hold them back from acting on them. Too often they’re the ones who become customers and fans instead of the one who captures the value.
We often say- chase every impression. When the ideas come, and they will!, even the smallest of acts can ensure their impact will be yours and not the others who had them but remained on the sidelines.
“There’s a time in every man’s life where he gotta make a change and try to move up to the next level”
That bar captured something that I was feeling in my bones but didn’t have the words to express.
How many of us have, or currently feel that way. Proud of our progress but hungry for what’s next, know we’re capable of more? Knowing that’s there’s a next level waiting for us on the other side of a something that might be deeply uncomfortable or outside our risk tolerance. Kanye West changed my life and maybe his bar can change yours too?

Last year I sat down with @soleio to talk about the changing role of designers as founders in an AI first world.
In the shade of the redwoods, we hatched an idea to dive deeper into that founder persona.
Later this week we’ll drop an entire series of videos devoted to that theme.
