Your screen is flickering hundreds of times per second — and it’s hurting your brain and eyes. Most devices use PWM dimming: rapid, invisible flicker that contributes to fatigue, eye strain, and poor sleep. Blue light filters won’t fix it. Flicker is a different mechanism entirely — one that disrupts your biology without you noticing. Curious how screen technology can support, rather than disrupt, your nervous system? Start by reading our newest guide on flicker, link in bio☝️

Technology shouldn’t be better than real life. A return to digital realism is needed ☀️💻 PS - our devices are made with love (not FCC compliant) 🫶

Ever wonder why 8 hours outside feels energizing but 8 hours in an indoors leaves you drained? We tested what you’re actually getting from indoor lighting vs. sunlight. It turns out that modern LEDs are optimized for efficiency and brightness, not for mimicking sunlight. Cold LEDs are extremely high in short wavelength blue light, and completely absent of more restorative red + infrared light. Blue light is only bad when it is not balanced with lower energy wavelengths, and this is the reason why indoor lighting feels so overstimulating and draining to our body. Sunlight is full spectrum: all visible wavelengths plus UV plus infrared that balance each other out. We need lighting that more closely mimics sunlight if we want to feel better indoors ☀️ How do you feel about indoor lighting?

Our light environment has a drastic impact on our mood, our energy, and our overall health status. Switching from warm lights to cold lights in the name of “energy efficiency” is in our opinion of the biggest mistakes in modern times. We are now overstimulated, chronically fatigued, and have disrupted our natural biological rhythms as a result of this switch. These blue dominant LEDs are also what light up our screens, which is where our eyes spent the vast majority of our day focused on. We are already seeing the negative repercussions of excessive screen time proliferate throughout society, but the key point is that the screens could be designed differently. They don’t have to be overstimulating and dopamine based, they could be calm and utility based. It is time to bring back warm, amber lighting. It’s time to make screens low stimulation and warm as well. This is our mission. If we change the environment around us we can support human flourishing rather than suppress it. ☀️💡🧡 Credit to @the_conscious_awakening for the video

Screens are a massive disruption to our sleep for three main reasons: 1) high amounts of blue light 2) excessive light intensity (brightness) 3) over stimulating content When it comes to light - it is both the combination of color and intensity that determines degree of Melatonin suppression. The only way to solve this is at the hardware level, and this is exactly why we built Daylight to be different. Comment AMBER to get access to the final hours of our only sale of the year, Amber Sunday, where you can get the Daylight Computer + a whole bunch of accessories for less than normal sticker price of just the Daylight Computer. 🌙

The fact that incandescent lights are prohibited for sale and no longer widely accessible is a tragedy for humanity. They are warm, inviting, and put our nervous system at ease. Cold, flickering LEDs that are now recommended do the exact opposite. You can read all the research proving this point or you can simply go off feel, you’ll reach the same conclusion. It’s time to bring back warm filament fire this holiday season. Comment “BULBS” and you’ll get access to our limited edition Daylight incandescents. Refute the status quo and make solutions that agree with our biology…Daylight Labs is here 🧪 ☀️
