[LES VITRINES 2025 - OPENING] 📆Opening June 27th – 6 pm at Institut français Berlin @ifkudamm Best Before:, a solo exhibition by Valentin Vert @valvert_ , is the second chapter in the Les Vitrines 2025 cycle curated by Indira Béraud @indiberaud . Best Before: explores the challenges of preservation—of data, artworks, and life itself. It brings together a series of sculptures whose vertical forms are inspired by geological core samples. Containing mercury, these ambivalent structures function both as measuring instruments and archival devices, where ecological tensions and symbolic narratives intersect. The works engage in dialogue with freely reworked archival images: from cinnabar mining to Cézanne’s pigments, from industrial excess to the poisoned waters of Minamata. Through this layered temporal and narrative mesh, the exhibition questions our ability to coexist with the toxic residues of the contemporary world—and implicitly raises the question of our own ecological expiration date. 👉 Valentin Vert (b. 1996) lives and works in Marseille. His practice, at the intersection of sculpture, industrial design, and craftsmanship, is grounded in a historical, social, and political reading of technical gestures. The resulting forms shape speculative narratives: animated artefacts bearing buried memories, witnesses to disappointed futures or still possible fictions. In 2023, he was awarded the François Bret Prize. His work has recently been presented at Art-o-rama in Marseille, Château de Servières in Marseille, Villa Benkemoun in Arles, Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles in Paris, and La Villette for 100% l’Expo. Exhibition produced with the support of the Carta Fund (/). @bureaudesartsvisuels

[LES VITRINES 2025 - OPENING] 📆Opening February 13th - 7pm at Institut français Berlin @ifkudamm The first exhibition in the Les Vitrines 2025 cycle, curated by @indiberaud , features a solo show by @isabella.benshimol . Her solo exhibition, „The Phantom of Liberty“, takes its title from Luis Buñuel’s 1974 surrealist film, which subversively deconstructs, with irony and provocation, the social and moral norms that govern society. Open to Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm historic avenue, the cross-section of a seemingly typical apartment -comprising a bedroom, a bathroom, a hallway, an entrance, and a dining room- becomes the stage for tension between private and public spheres. 🏠This site-specific installation, composed of sculptures and photographs, incorporates fragments of everyday life. Crafted from architectural elements, furniture, lingerie, worn clothing, and various textiles preserved in epoxy resin or silicone, these pieces imbue the space with a spectral presence. Each seems to carry the memory, fluids, or forms of an absent body, revealing a hollow-out narrative, petrified in time. 👉Isabella Benshimol Toro (1994) is a Caracas-born, London-based artist. Her work draws from the need to freeze in time actions, gestures and ephemeral sensations of everyday domestic life. Her intention is to provide space for critical reflection on notions of intimacy, domesticity, power, and value. Isabella Benshimol received her MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London, in 2020. 📸Isabella Benshimol Toro Soft serve lob, 2022 Used silk pants, epoxy resin 28.5 x 24 x 4.5 cm #contemporaryart #institutfrançais #ifkudamm #frenchcurators #womanartist #jeunescommissaires

[THE PHANTOM OF LIBERTY – LES VITRINES 2025] « The Phantom of Liberty », a solo show by @isabella.benshimol and curated by @indiberaud , is on view at the french institute Berlin @ifkudamm until June 20. „Her solo exhibition, titled after Luis Buñuel’s 1974 surrealist film, explores the tension between private and public spheres. Set in a cross-section of a typical apartment on Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm, Benshimol Toro transforms the space into a tableau where ordinary actions unfold like scenes in a film. The exhibition reveals the absurdities of authority and conventions, exposing raw transparency and making intimacy more political than ever.“ Photography by Luca Girardini @luca_girardini_photography @bureaudesartsvisuels

« The Phantom of Liberty », Isabella Benshimol Toro’ solo exhibition, is on view at @ifkudamm , Berlin, until June 20, 2025. Curator: Indira Béraud @indiberaud “Benshimol Toro transforms the space into a tableau of a domestic interior where fossils of ordinary actions become images that unfold as in a film. Exacerbating the tension between private and public spheres, the exhibition is set in motion under voyeuristic gazes, while authority and conventions are laid bare, revealing their absurdities. Absent walls and suggested spaces expose a raw transparency, where power relations come to the fore and intimacy is more political than ever.” Photography by Luca Girardini @luca_girardini_photography Special thanks to Sophie Coumel, Oriane Durant, Marie Praun, Arthur Roy and Alix Weidner For full documentation on institutfrancais.de or isabellabenshimol.com

@caroline_delieutraz ´s exhibition« Bleen », populated by ‘potential’ creatures, opened last week at @22.48m2 🦎 i had the pleasure to write some words for her 🪺🦖 « If the term 'bleen' sounds strangely familiar, that's because it's a neologism resulting from the fusion of 'blue' and 'green'. The term was coined in 1955 by the American philosopher and collector Nelson Goodman in response to certain challenges associated with induction—a method of drawing generalizations from specific observations. For instance, the observation of emeralds led to the assumption that they were green, although there was no guarantee that they would retain this colour in the future. Defining an emerald as 'bleen' (or vleu in French) suggests the possibility that it could change their hue, integrating future potentialities into the reading and enunciation of the present. […] »

Sila Candansayar @silayir ´s haunting solo show « Tenders » will open next Friday at @cabinet_studiolo in Milano 🎀 and I was lucky enough to write the exhibition text 🍳 « It all begins on a dreary autumn evening. Those somewhat morose evenings where one no longer has the strength to cook. The artist then opts for Chicken Tenders, which she will enjoy in bed while watching a TV series..." Exhibition curated by Studiolo. Via Tadino 20, Milano.
