Pianomaxxed the trio with @dariusheid on grand piano , synths and prepared upright + @filippo__deorsola on prepared grand piano The usual suspects @ina4ro and @marco_luparia followed us along on this singular musical journey : I’m so grateful for us to be able to experience such welcoming spaces to experiment all together in sound. A heartfelt thanks to @bernardoqtinoco for hosting myself and Marco and to Darius for welcoming Jonathan in your home. This truly means the world for us to be home wherever we meet like minded artists. Also so much love for the whole Koncert Kirken team , who took of organising the night , feeding us and made sure that we could focus on the music coming together ! Introducing the Axiom Trio, at Electric Umbrella on the 5th of April. Axiom Trio Axiom is the trio led by Andrew Moreno, Venezuelan guitarist and composer now based in Rotterdam. An award-winning trio, also featuring drummer Tristan Renfrow and double-bassist Jonathan Ho. Andrew began his musical journey at the age of nine, immersing himself in the jazz scene of Caracas, Venezuela. At eighteen, due to the political and economic crisis in Venezuela, he relocated to Europe; he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Guitar at Codarts in Rotterdam, and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. “Axiom tells a story about my struggles during migration, dealing with nostalgia, letting go of memories, and falling in love with music again every day of the year. Save the date 📣 Next up on Electric Umbrella’s 31st edition; Axiom Trio with prog-jazz improv from Rotterdam and Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø with extended feedback trombone-from Trondheim/Berlin. 5th of April, Sunday 20:00. @worm.rotterdam —— *Axiom is the trio led by Andrew Moreno, Venezuelan guitarist and composer now based in Rotterdam. An award-winning trio, also featuring drummer Tristan Renfrow and double-bassist Jonathan Ho. Cutting their teeth at leading venues and festivals all over Europe and Asia, the trio’s versatility and fearless approach to improvisation earned them first place at the 2024 Erasmus Jazz Prize, and were invited to perform at North Sea Jazz Festival 2024. **Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø Ground-breaking trombonist based in Trondheim and Berlin, exploring the physicality of sound through long-term processes and immersive collaborations. His solo setup combines heavily amplified trombone, analogue electronics and sound files, while utilizing compressor-like use of lungs. His fourth solo release Faint Light Blackens was developed for the resonant acoustics of Oslo’s Vigeland Mausoleum – a seven-part piece exploring pulse, natural harmonics and monumental subwoofer feedback.

SHOWCASE · ANDREW MORENO · Hispanic-Venezuelan guitarist Andrew Moreno (@andrewnotyourfriend ) presents his debut album “Axiom” (@honolulurecords , 2025), which combines sophisticated composition and boundless improvisation, with influences ranging from visual arts to the harmonic worlds of Messiaen and Schoenberg. Following performances at major European venues, the trio’s reputation rose rapidly after winning the Erasmus Jazz Award 2024, a recognition that also led to a performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2024, confirming the band as a mature and dynamic project ready for major stages.
