INSTANT FILM PHOTO THROWDOWN is happening at Polacon NYC 📸 May 29th at 12PM.
Inspired by the fast-paced energy of the coffee communities latte art throwdowns, photographers will battle it out through a series of on-the-spot photo prompts using instant film. You’ll have limited time, one shot at the moment, and a panel of judges deciding who really understood the assignment.
We’re also teaming up with @polaroid for a special surprise we’ll be revealing at the event 👀
Whether you’re competing or just pulling up to watch the throwdown unfold, this one’s going to be special.

✨PolaCon NYC Spotlight ✨
@imstill.developing (San Diego, CA) is a film lab turned movement—blending film photography, music, nightlife, and real-world experiences into one evolving brand. Known for high-energy events, photo meetups, late-night parties, pop-ups, and creative collaborations, ISD exists at the intersection of analog photography and culture. At the center of it all is the lab itself, developing and scanning film daily while creating spaces for photographers to connect, create, and actually live the moments they’re capturing.
Inspired by the fast-paced energy of the coffee world’s latte art throwdowns, Instant Film Photo Throwdown is a live on-site photography competition built for instant photo enthusiasts. Participants are given prompts, a limited amount of time, and one shot to capture their best image before submissions are judged live. Fast thinking, quick framing, and pure instinct.
I got, I got, I got, I got, Yeezy in serato. Well, on wax all night. From melodic raps and soul samples to stadium anthems and certified bangers. We’re featuring two generational talents and the music they inspired.

She is a Brazilian-born, Los Angeles-based film photographer who specializes in fashion, beauty, and portrait photography—infused with bold color and a touch of rhythm inspired by home. Her work is all about capturing people, vibrant tones, and moments that feel truly alive.
From developing film in traffic to taking over our space for the day, this one was special. New STONED 35mm in hand, rare film on deck, camcorders everywhere, and a room full of people really about it.
