We went on a tour of the Mai Wah Museum when passing through Butte Montana on a cross country road trip. I remember there was this hand written sign. I think it said, “ China town Lives Here.”

My Aunt and Uncle on my father’s Side opened a hamburger/hotdog restaurant called Happy Dog in downtown Sonoma California in the early 80s. I loved visiting Happy Dog on family trips to California.
Growing up in a family of engineers and scientists, I thought that running a hamburger shop was the coolest. My aunt would make us milkshakes and give us quarters from the tip jar to play unlimited arcade games. After closing, they would use the same grills and cooked up Chinese food for our family.

I’ve always played with “value” from working with the multiple, finding inspiration in the mundane, crafting with a cheap material, and (trying to) celebrating the small, maybe overlooked things.
You can collect a fancy (though art affordable) handmade limited edition version of this sculpture @e.l.hymns or through @exitatccg . (Directly supporting artists is hot). But with academic, institutional support from @shiamin_kwa , @janellemrebel and @curatorbmc you can download and make yourself some extra sauce for fun and for free.
