“Scarpetta” stars Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis recognize the fragility of life, which helps them seize each day.
➡️➡️ For my favorite quote from the crime drama, streaming Season 1 in its entirety on Amazon’s Prime Video.

It’s the human moments that I savor most in my interviews, the instances of connection over issues we all face. The sisters in “Scarpetta” (out now on Amazon’s Prime Video) — Kay (Nicole Kidman) and Dorothy (Jamie Lee Curtis) — are deeply affected by their father’s death. Kay, a Chief Medical Examiner, pursued her profession in an attempt to gain some sort of control, while Dorothy, thinking nothing is within our control, tries to live life fully. Similarly to her character, Nicole says that an “obsession” began after her dad’s fatal heart attack in 2014. “ I wanted to know why,” she said. Since losing my aunt this summer, also to a heart attack, I’ve become extremely concerned with the wellbeing of my loved ones and myself. I wanted to share this clip because I was moved by the compassion shown by @nicolekidman and #JamieLeeCurtis and in case anyone is going through something similar.

Bill Lawrence, one of the great minds behind feel-good shows like “Ted Lasso,” “Shrinking,” and “Scrubs,” shares how he maintains his sunny outlook. “ It’s understandable to feel weighed down and burdened by the world around you,” Lawrence says, “and by your personal circumstance and by the cynicism that pervades social media — and it’s everywhere.” Yet, the Emmy-winner is still able to choose hope, as evident in his new comedy “Rooster.” The series stars Steve Carell and premieres Sunday, March 8 (10 ET/PT and streaming on HBO Max).

Not a bad week at the office. I had such a fun time chatting with Steve Carell and Charley Clive about their new comedy “Rooster” (Sundays on HBO and HBO Max). I’ll never be the smoothest or coolest reporter in the room, but I can always be my little awkward self. And that can be a gift. More from my interviews to come, and a story will publish on USAToday.com Sunday 🗞️

I’ll be honest: that New Year, anything-is-possible energy has felt a little out of reach the last couple of days. But assembling this 2025 recap was a wonderful reminder of all of the incredible things that 2026 could bring. Last year was full of blessings — unexpected or better than I could’ve imagined. 2025 began with a nationwide search for a Valentine, for which I got to say those three words… “Good Morning, America!” The date atop the Empire State Building was the most romantic group date (shoutout to my coworkers) and even ended with a gentle snowfall. I didn’t find love, but I got to live out a dream because I was bold enough to pitch a “crazy” idea, and that is a fantastic lesson! Other highlights of the year include: meeting my favorite comedian on April Fool’s Day, getting to dance alongside my mom to “Bye Bye Bye” again, walking for hours on an unseasonably sunny day in Cannon Beach, Oregon — full of pastries and matcha from local coffee shops and awe, courtesy of Haystack Rock — and getting to see the “Sleepless in Seattle” house in person. The pulse-quickening question is what will the New Year bring? We didn’t come out of 2025 unscathed. There was great, unexpected loss and grief, and in its wake trepidation lingers. It feels like windows could be closing and giant dreams might be a little too big. But what other choice is there, really, but to be bold and brave and persevere? I can be a very anxious person, but I’d like to make it a practice to anticipate more joy. As a reminder, the @MostSelfImproved podcast has episodes on goal-setting and vision mapping — on Apple Podcasts and Spotify — if either topic feels useful. May 2026 exceed our wildest expectations!

We’ve officially entered “Home Alone” season! My favorite Christmas movie is 35 years old (insert Kevin scream here)! In honor of its theatrical release, on Nov. 16, 1990, I got to write about how much I love it and share a snippet from a photoshoot with my nieces. I’m sad to say that @amandajens6 and I had to bribe our Fuller with Coca-Cola, but it went better than any Wet Bandits heist. Full story at USAToday.com

For those feeling burnt out, disconnected, or unsure of how to make a difference, this heartfelt episode of the @hearshowpodcast is FOR YOU! You know principal Zac Bauermaster from viral videos interacting with his students. The joy radiating from exchanges of high-fives and hugs is contagious. But in another season of life, Zac battled “crippling” anxiety and depression.  “Everything looked fine on the outside, but on the inside I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t eat,” @zbauermaster says. “I would wake up in hot and cold sweats, and my heart would be beating.” In the episode, Zac opens up about the moment he realized he couldn’t fight his battles alone. It’s a raw conversation about faith, community, and the courage it takes to ask for help. 🎧 Enjoy now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #wellnessjourney #inspiration #anxietysupport #depressionhelp
