On Thursday 14 May, join Ibraaz's music curator Imed Alibi (@imed_alibi ) and producer Khalil Hentati (@khalilepi ) for Frigya—a contemporary and electronic approach to traditional North African percussions for which they share a common passion.
This album and live show is the result of several years of research and creation where the duo inventoried and archived the traditional Mezwed and Bedoui repertoires, in order to deliver a modern interpretation spiced up with dancefloor accents.
It is a tribute to African heritage found in the Tunisian rhythms; a link between the Arab and African worlds; a transmission of intergenerational legacies, in a common spirit of openness.

📖 Read interviews with Naseer Shamma (@naseershamma ) and Isam Elias (@isam.elias ) conducted by our Music Curator Imed Alibi (@imed_alibi ) on Ibraaz Publishing.
Imed interviewed Naseer Shamma following his performance at Ibraaz in June. In the interview, Shamma reflects on his long-term and ever-growing relationship with the Oud as an instrument, and its ability to give expression to diverse historical experiences.
Imed also interviewed composer, pianist and songwriter Isam Elias after his July performance at Ibraaz. Elias discusses what it means to rework and reimagine traditional Palestinian and Arab sounds using modern electronic techniques, and reflects on the growing and global popularity of Arab electronic music and its ability to transcend both musical and national borders.

I was delighted to take part in the official opening of Ibraaz London on October 4th, alongside inspiring colleagues, curators, and artists. It’s an honour to see this new cultural centre come to life in the heart of London — and to serve as its Music Director.
The opening day was a true celebration of art and dialogue, featuring Ibrahim Mahama’s powerful exhibition Parliament of Ghosts, and performances by Lynn Adib, Naseer Shamma, the Maronite Choir of London and Oum…Stay tuned for the next events on @ibraazlondon that will feature amazing artists such as @nadah_elshazly@raedyassinstudio@nihalelaasar@oliviamelkonian_ …photos by @talie.eigeland .
