🎥🎬 Inland Empire filmmaker and SBVC film department chair Lucas Cuny will host a free public screening of his indie short film, The Inland Empire, at Ritual Brewing Co. in Redlands at 7 p.m., Feb. 18, using it to launch a crowdfunding push for a feature-length version.
Cuny called the seven-minute short a “proof of concept” and said the full script is already written, but funding is the barrier, with a $25,000 goal to cover locations, actors, and paid student crew roles.
The neo-noir story follows a bail bondsman pulled into a case that begins in the region’s orange groves and escalates into a murder mystery and a larger sex-trafficking ring tied to a church.
Cuny framed the project as part of a bigger argument for the IE’s future—pushing leaders to invest in studios and media infrastructure, not just warehouses—saying he’d rather see “an Amazon studio” than “an Amazon warehouse.” Full story at IECN.com. 🔗📲

Behind every great story is a crew that made it happen. From script to screen, our student filmmakers gained hands-on experience in every department—writing, directing, camera, lighting, and more—while building a community that supports and inspires one another. 🎞️
To our filmmakers: keep creating, keep collaborating, and keep telling the stories that matter. Here’s to making 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 an unforgettable year for FTVM.🤍🎬
