Third in a series of vintage style signs designed and painted and made by me! Vic Hanny Co was a department store that opened in 1947 in downtown Phoenix. They had some amazing neon signs and the window displays often featured great hand painted show cards. It closed in 1986 and the building is now home to the @hannysbar restaurant. Had a great time last weekend at the Oak Street Alley Mural Fest! Rushed through this one a bit, but had fun painting, meeting fellow artists, hearing local music, and talking to the folks in the neighborhood who came together to put this event on. Super fun to assist in bringing back this historic circa 1957 sign in downtown Gilbert! I love a good patina, but sometimes it can run away from you in the desert sun and give the appearance of neglect. Cleaned this one up and painted on some patina to give an aged, but legible appearance that will last for years to come. Owner opted for a light touch on the top to let nature do the rest of the aging. Big thanks to @trademarkvisual for having me help out on the paint work.
