The Supreme Court has issued administrative stays until May 11 in the mifepristone case. This means full access to mifepristone is restored temporarily. And so, the court chaos continues. It’s meant to confuse, stoke fear, and disrupt care. Have questions about what this legal back-and-forth means for your abortion? Our Repro Legal Helpline is here for you. If you have questions about your legal risk, need help accessing an abortion while under 18, or face investigation or arrest for your abortion, miscarriage, or stillbirth, reach out to us. Visit reprolegalhelpline.org or call 844-868-2812. You are not alone.

Today, SCOTUS decision permits doctors in Idaho to provide emergency abortion care as litigation continues. This is a temporary relief for people in Idaho right now, but it still leaves those in other states open to being denied emergency care. Don't feed the Court's chaos. Help by sharing resources. If you are being denied emergency abortion care, call our Repro Legal Helpline: reprolegalhelpline.org or 844-868-2812 Know your rights when seeking medical care: reprolegalhelpline.org/legal-rights-and-risk/ Reach out to the @ma_hotline , which provides medical support and info for abortion and miscarriage: mahotline.org or 833-246-2632. Getting people out of jail when they are charged because of abortion or pregnancy loss shouldn’t be siloed from their defense. Prosecutions coordinate in ways that allow release conditions to complicate family policing interventions, bail payments to trigger ICE detentions, and a lack of mental health support to undermine a client’s stability. Our "Fighting Reproductive Criminalization: A Defense Practice Manual” provides the grounding needed to build a strong defense at every stage and ensure that the path to release doesn’t create new harms. Find it at the link in our bio.

BREAKING NEWS: Mife by mail is still available in all 50 states—pass it on. We just heard from the Supreme Court that they are going to continue to allow providers to prescribe mifepristone through the mail–at least until this case has gone through appeal. This is a relief and it’s ridiculous that the legal ground has shifted several times in the last two weeks. And we repeat: People who need abortions shouldn’t have to sift through court rulings and headlines every day to understand what the law says about their ability to get health care. That’s why our Repro Legal Helpline exists. If you have questions about: ✅your legal risk ✅need help accessing an abortion while under 18 ✅investigation or arrest for your abortion, miscarriage, or stillbirth Reach out to us at ReproLegalHelpline.org or call 844-868-2812 to speak with a lawyer.

Amicus brief filed! Michiganders deserve care, not more restrictions. We represented the @mcedsv , @ndvh___ , and @nnedv in an amicus brief in Northland Family Planning v. Nessel, challenging a law that singles out abortion providers. This mandate requires abortion providers, and no other health care providers, to screen for “coercion to have an abortion,” but no other form of intimate partner violence. It also only requires abortion providers—and no one else—to post signs in their clinics describing criminal sanctions for abusive partners. The law seems to address reproductive coercion. It doesn’t. We know that abusers most often coerce their partners into pregnancy, not into abortions. To interrupt repro coercion, we need solutions grounded in survivors' real experience. Not unnecessary regulation that reinforces how abusers wield control over survivors' lives and decisions. That means getting rid of state-imposed barriers that restrict access and only add to the isolation and difficulty of trying to safely stay or exit an abusive relationship. Laws standing between you and the care that you need is a form of state violence. Full stop. No matter what the Court ends up deciding, we will be here for survivors defending their bodily autonomy and care. If you or a loved one are experiencing abuse or interpersonal violence, reach out to these free, trusted, and confidential resources: 🫂 For compassionate support, crisis intervention help, and talk to someone, call @ndvh : 800-799-7233 or thehotline.org. ☎ If you’re harassed or threatened with cops or court by a partner for your abortion or pregnancy, reach out to our Helpline: 844-868-2812 or ReproLegalHelpline.org.

For many young people, their mom is who they turn to when they need an abortion. Many of the callers to our Repro Legal Helpline are moms trying to help their kid access care. Far too often, it ends up being the moms of abortion seekers who get targeted, investigated, arrested, and jailed. Recently, we shared the stories of two of our clients who were punished for helping their kid seek abortion care with @abortioneveryday . “In one case, CPS removed a teen from her home—and threatened her mother with murder charges—to stop her from getting an abortion. Another mother, one who lives in a state where abortion is legal, faced an investigation from both CPS and local police after helping her teen end a pregnancy.” These cases are a horrifying example of the state violence our callers and clients face. That's why our Helpline exists. Give today to help us support moms facing punishment for helping their kids. Your donation makes our vital legal services possible.
