Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week and we wanted to share Steven's story, as he details his journey and experience with If U Care Share 💚
This Mental Health Awareness Week, we once again want to recognise the importance of starting conversations, checking in on one another and remembering that if you do need support, help is always available 🤲
Knowing that it is OK not to feel OK can go a long way ✨
We’re sharing some exciting news today, something we’ve dreamed of since day one ✨
On World Mental Health Day, we’re proud to say we can now support every community across the North East, with us now able to support an additional 700,000 residents across Teesside and Darlington! 🤲
From the Scottish Borders to North Yorkshire Border, wherever you are in the North East, if you’ve been affected by suicide, we’re here to listen, support, and help 💚

[John] It has been three fulfilling days in the North-East of England with delivery of suicide prevention education, meetings, and work with clients.
Wednesday was about delivering Canmore Trust suicide prevention education to all years of BDS and BSc students in the School of Dental Sciences in Newcastle University, alongside viewing The Low Road, an amazing film created by Stephen Mulhearn and Sophie Marsh. Thursday saw this repeated to dentists in training at NHS England - NHS North East. Two great days! Some great conversations!
Friday saw me meeting with Matthew Smith, Founder and CEO of Ifucareshare, a pivotal and inspirational charity working in the suicide postvention and prevention sector. Matthew has become a dear and close friend and I appreciate him very much - his wisdom, his challenges, his support, his love. Great chat!
I then fulfilled a longstanding ambition to visit The Angel of The North. What a wonderful sculpture! I had no idea that The Angel has become a place of pilgrimage for many people on their grief journeys. The trees around are full of objects of memory and memorial. I fell into conversation with a man who lost his son to suicide last year. He visits The Angel every week and scattered his son's ashes nearby. We wept together. I let him know about Ifucareshare and he'll be in touch. These encounters are very special and every one of them touches me deeply. I am deeply humbled to do the work we do in The Canmore Trust. Oh, and sometimes I get exhausted too!
Did I say that the people of Newcastle are wonderful? They certainly are!

Let’s change the conversation around suicide, together. Someone out there needs you to be ready.
Continuing our mission to spread awareness of our services and campaigns this Mental Health Awareness Week, hear from Rebecca as she tells her story 💚
A big part of our mission is tackling stigma and helping people feel able to seek support sooner, and we aim to keep those open conversations going every day, all year round. While weeks like this week are so important to our work, we recognise this issue does not stick to a calendar, and you can feel low at any time 🗣️
If you do ever need any support, we are always here for U 🤲
One month to go! 👟🌊
On the 12th June we’re bringing the North East Manufacturing & Engineering community together once again to walk, talk, and raise awareness for men’s mental health.
This time it’s the Manufacturers Ramble On 4 Mental Health 🧠🙏🏻
This is more than just a walk - it’s about creating space for conversations that don’t happen enough in our industry.
Too many men are still struggling in silence and we’re committed to changing that.
Last year, over 140 people showed up… Let’s make this one even bigger! 👏🏻
This year, we’re raising funds for 4 incredible charities supporting mental health and suicide prevention.
You don’t need to donate to attend, but it would be greatly appreciated.
Likewise if you can’t attend but want to donate that will also be extremely appreciated.
The charities are @red_balloons2017@andysmanclubuk@jamesplaceuk@ifucareshare 🙏🏻
Head to the link in our bio to find out more and confirm your attendance! 🔗

SCROLL FOR ROUTE.
You’ve had the teaser. Now here it is.
We’ll now start and finish under the arches at Deep North HQ in Ouseburn, following an iconic Newcastle route packed with character, graffiti, bridges, river paths, Hadrian’s Way, caffeine and questionable amount of doughnuts 🍩.
The full route will be shared in the welcome pack before the event, and we’ll also be using @alleykat.racing , which includes the route for you on the day.
Expect Deep North aid stations fuelled by doughnuts and coffee, proper community vibes, and iced coffee and a doughnut waiting for every finisher at the end.
We’ve also opened up a very limited number of extra spaces.
This event brings our Miles on the Mind campaign with If U Care Share to a close.
But that does not mean we stop taking mental health seriously when May ends.
Mental Health Awareness Month is important, but for us, this has always been bigger than one month, one campaign or one event. We’ll always have mental health on the mind.
So when you enter The Deep North Run, you’re not just getting doughnuts, caffeine, community and potentially the best run of your life.
You’re also supporting If U Care Share, with £5 from every single ticket going directly to them and the incredible work they do across the North East.
More than a run.
More than a morning out.
Community over competition.
A reminder that this Monday, 11th May, will mark the start Mental Health Awareness Week 🌟
While these weeks remain vitally important for the awareness of the work and support we provide, we know these struggles aren't just confined to a singular week 🤲
Check in on a family member or friend, spread awareness and remember that it's OK not to feel OK 💚
If you are ever struggling, please get in touch 🗣️
