๐ฆ Firi Rahmanโs site-specific installation at Lunuganga in 2024 was an exploration of the idea of states of being.
๐ When creating this work, Firi found himself drawn to the hidden corners of the garden, inspiring his drawings of real and imagined birds dwelling within it. The result was a series of intricately illustrated panels that ask the viewer to notice what is visible and consider what is hidden.
๐ฆ Firi's outdoor installation, 'Perch,' designed to meld into the treescapes at Lunuganga, was composed of meticulously placed cinnamon wood ss

Less sleep but more focus. staying locked into the daily challenges, and taking it slow but staying disciplined. No mania, no relapsing, just steady, grounded progress this Ramadan.
In Colombo, the Department of Fine Art undertook a neighbourhood walk facilitated by Firi Rahman. Rahmanโs project situates in Slave Island, which is currently under threat due to processes of gentrification, wherein corporate interests are increasingly appropriating residential land, resulting in the demolition of homes, displacement and the construction of large-scale commercial developments.
In response to these ongoing transformations, and in an effort to document and preserve the socio-cultural landscape of the area and the lived experiences of its remaining residents, Rahman co-founded We Are From Here, an artist-led initiative. The project functions as an archive that critically records the mechanisms of spatial erasure and displacement, foregrounding the urgent role of archiving practices in a period marked by rapid urban redevelopment.

LATITUDE 28 X ART SG | Booth SA03
LATITUDE 28 presents works by Firi Rahman and Yogesh Ramkrishna, two contemporary artists whose practices engage with questions of displacement, belief, and socio-political consciousness. Firi Rahmanโs multidisciplinary practice reflects on migration, ecological change, and the idea of home through symbolic architectural forms and restrained visual language. Yogesh Ramkrishna works across drawing, printmaking, and installation to construct narrative-driven worlds that interrogate myth, media, and the absurdities of a post-truth society.
We are also displaying Khadim Aliโs tapestry at Art SGโs VIP Lounge. Khadimโs practice draws from the traditions of miniature painting and tapestry to examine histories of displacement, ideological conflict, and cultural loss.
