From a student urban campsite to emergency housing systems and reimagined reception spaces, IED arrives at Milan Design Week 2026 with three projects that rethink how we live, here and now:
- The third edition of The Glitch Camp, the free urban campsite for students during Milan Design Week, hosted at the former Ex Macello in Porta Vittoria;
- “VIVO – Living the Emergency” for INTERNI MATERIAE at the Statale, a temporary housing solution designed to be installed within 48 hours in Italian school gyms for emergency shelter situations;
- Near Dropcity, “FARE POSTO: Chronicles and Design from Centro Sammartini”, a Municipality of Milan project rethinking the reception spaces beneath Milan Central Station.

Months in the making, held in the present.
In Corpo Presente has come to a close: a collective work shaped by 50 students together with @benassijacopo , @sabato.desarno and @iosissi , through practices of body, matter, image and gesture.
These are fragments of its final moment, where a shared process became performance, encounter, and memory.
Opportunities like this don’t come often.
This year, IED is supporting the next generation of creatives with 140 scholarships, each covering up to €6,000 for Undergraduate and Foundation programs across Italy and Spain.

The Glitch Camp is over — and it was everything we hoped for, and more.
For a few days, the Ex Macello became a free urban campsite for design students from around the world: a meeting point, a creative hub, a temporary home. Workshops to rethink the future. Social dinners to bridge the gap. Unexpected connections born between one tent and the next.
And now, as the tents come down, the materials don’t disappear. The IKEA furniture finds a new home, donated to the foundations and associations of this city. Because nothing here was disposable. Not the objects, not the relationships, not the experience.
Design isn’t just something to look at: it’s an experience to be lived together. And this one? We’ll carry it with us for a long time.

In the heart of the city, Glitch Camp came to life: a special place where young designers from all over the world could stay for free, meet, and create together.
A project by Fondazione Morelli and IED, in partnership with Ferrino and Piano B.
And that’s not all.
With Re-Life, Ferrino’s workshop, end-of-life materials and tents were given a new purpose, transformed into completely new objects.
Upcycling, sharing, new connections.
