Thank you very much, Margo.
My first solo performance - ever. Done ✅
It was a blast, though I will refrain from shouting too loud at Bike races two weeks before a concert in the future. Also, having a stuffy nose is shit for singing.
Still, I am more than happy with the outcome of this beautiful evening.
Two Duetts, an Aria, and a song.
At the "Schüler:innen Konzert" organized by my Singing Teacher, I will perform for the first time Solo.
The plan is to Prepare "Der Engel" and "Leb wohl" and - who knows, who will join - maybe a Duett like "Lippen schweigen" or even "Siegmund sieh auf mich".
A lot is in the works and I am already scared, but looking forward to perform something solo.
Even more Stuff from the vinyl, I inherited from my grandma. My dearest admiration for Fritz Wunderlich and @tenorkaufmann for making me lose my fear of heights.
I might become a real Bariton after all...
I am curious if background music is ok... For everybody searching:
Michael Volle - Wagner Arias "Der fliegende Holländer, WWV63: Die Frist ist um" is the recording in the background.
The highlight of the show: Wolfram has to let go of the love of his life, Elisabeth. When Heinrich did not return with the Pilgrims, her will to live terminates. In this heartbreaking Aria, Wolfram speaks his farewell and pleads to his Abendstern, that it guides Elisabeth on her way.
The excerpt is maybe the hardest part for me personally. The music shifts from a dark and mournful feeling into the gracious picture of the Abendstern. The Abendstern is the objectification of a "pure" untainted and unending love. It is the ideal and hope to which Wolfram dedicates everything. To me, though with different ideals, my feelings and my life in music are closely intertwined with this very Aria. The excerpt is directly followed by the well known "Oh du, mein holder Abendstern".
This is the reason why my favorite Opera is Tannhäuser. I saw it at the @deutscheoperberlin on Saturday. A beautiful performance by my favorite Berlin based Tenor @clayhilley and the remarkable @camilla.nylund.saris .
As always my eyes were fixed on Wolfram - the role which got me into singing - portrait for the first time in a scenic setting by @thomaslehmanbaritone . And I was blown away. It brought back all the feelings I had when I witnessed it for the first time in Aachen.
It's an opera and an Ensemble that everyone should have the pleasure to see.
Thank you for the evening.
Haven't posted in a while... I didn't feel like it.
Now, some recordings of this month, testing the Range. Neither are nice nor are they stable or have good placement. But testing and failures are part of the journey.
Just getting to know my voice, working towards a high A... Maybe someday
