👏 Congratulations to Jaycee Farmer from @icord_sci on winning Best Oral Abstract Presentation at the Winter Anesthesiology Summit! Her work on acute and long-term trends in gabapentinoid, opioid, and concurrent use following spinal cord injury earned 1st prize. Using Population Data BC linked with the RHSCIR Registry, this research highlights the power of data in driving better care and outcomes. Amazing to see this important work recognized! 🙌 Read this high-impact publication at link in bio.

At Humanity Wellness, supporting individuals living with spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions is something we genuinely care about. @bara.acu (Acupuncturist) and Lola (RMT) both have a strong interest in working with this community. Their treatments focus on nervous system regulation, pain management, mobility support, and overall well-being always personalized and collaborative. Recovery looks different for everyone.
We’re here to support you at every stage. 📍Olympic Village + Yaletown

VO2 Max Season Finale 😮‍💨 Similar to the first session a month ago, I finished up this one two weeks before nationals @xtreme_promotions and get some extra steps in for the day on the treadmill to finalize my part of this cool research study at VCH and @icord_sci organized by @saman_rostami_ and his team. with the data from the previous session, they could approximately estimate my VO2 max via blood lactic acid (I filmed it this time dw) through small samples for given time intervals on my left hand. Unlike last time where every two minutes it would progressively get more and more challenging, this time on the treadmill we maintained a consistent pace very grateful to experience and participate in something that I learned in my second year (kin300) and hopefully during my offseason when I do some cardio sidequests at a more normal body weight and bf% maybe my results might be a bit different 😮 - - - code: “DAVIDO” @popeyesburnaby_coquitlam @dechirelifestyle @titanforgesf @helixxfoods @bekenetik @celsius_canada @htltsupps code “DAVIDOLIFTS” @yvrcookie - - - #strength #workout #workoutmotivation #asthetics #fitness #fitnessmotivation #fitnessjourney #sanford #lakemary #explorepage #bodybuilding #fitnessroutine #fitmen #posing #bodybuldingmotivation #arm #flexing #chest #abs #gymmotivation #gymlifestyle #gymshark #worksouts

Curiosity and community meet at Community Research Night! Join the International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries (@icord_sci ) and Spinal Cord Injury BC (SCI BC) on Monday, November 3 to learn more about research, how it happens and the different types of research happening at the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre. Meet researchers and community partners and share your lived experience with people interested in learning more. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the event begins at 6 pm. A light dinner will be provided. Please RSVP to Teri at [email protected] To learn more, click the link in our bio or visit sci-bc.ca/event-dir/community-research-night/ #SpinalCordInjury #Disability #Research #KnowledgeTranslation #Vancouver

this is DEFINITELY one of the coolest things I’ve done roughly two weeks before @vancityshowdown I had a chance to sign-up and participate in a pretty cool research study at VCH and @icord_sci organized by @saman_rostami_ and his team. the main thing they enticed me the most was being able to actually measure and reasonably estimate my VO2 max this consisted of measuring blood lactic acid through small samples every two minutes on my left hand. simultaneously, every two minutes it would progressively get more and more challenging (with an increase of resistance of 2.0) while maintaining a consistent RPM of between 70-80 another academic and athletic weapon @andy_w244 finished this a couple weeks ago and I couldn’t back away from a challenge. overall, I was pretty satisfied with my overall riding time of just over 26 minutes (Andy beat me unfortunately) but doing this while so depleted, lean, and also hitting a heavy leg day right before lol all in all, really fun experience since learning about it in kin300. I’m excited to try it again when I’m at a normal body weight and more reasonable bf% to see if we can top this time 😼 - - - code: “DAVIDO” @supplementworldcanada @truelycereal @dechirelifestyle @titanforgesf @helixxfoods @bekenetik - - - #strength #workout #workoutmotivation #asthetics #fitness #fitnessmotivation #fitnessjourney #sanford #lakemary #explorepage #bodybuilding #fitnessroutine #fitmen #posing #bodybuldingmotivation #arm #flexing #chest #abs #gymmotivation #gymlifestyle #gymshark #worksouts

Exciting news! seed2STEM is expanding to BC Cancer, creating even more opportunities for Indigenous youth in STEM research! From a small pilot project in spinal cord injury research to now including cutting-edge cancer research across BC, we're building pathways for the next generation of Indigenous scientists. "Working in healthcare as an Indigenous person is working towards reconciliation, showing our Indigenous people that we can work towards a trusting relationship with healthcare." - Shana George, seed2STEM participant since 2019 This expansion means more research placements, and a stronger foundation for Indigenous representation in cancer research.

Congratulations to the seed2STEM team who received a three-year NSERC PromoScience grant to support and expand research opportunities for Indigenous youth! 🔬 Led by Dr. Cornelia Laule and Cheryl Niamath at ICORD, seed2STEM invites Indigenous youth to participate in paid summer internships in UBC research labs, where they gain hands-on experience, contribute to research projects and take part in learning modules and field trips. ➡️ Link in bio. 📷 Credit: Martin Dee/ICORD.
