This project came about because of an itch to create, so I did what a writer does, I wrote. This was to be a 'throwaway' project something quick and easy and just released... but then I pitched the project to @folaabatan to come onboard as a DoP. Not only did he come onboard as a DoP, he liked the project so much that he decided to come on as producer, something I'm grateful for because producing is not a strength AT ALL! He then proceeds to elevate the production beyond what I imagined by drawing on the relationships with the people in the industry he's worked with. On the post side of things, I straight away hollered at @kl.colour to grade, @spacewalkaudio for sound design, @eastern_nomad for music and David Sendall to mix. I'm not one for perambulating on social media but I felt this conviction to publicly recognise and appreciate the people who donated their time to bring my random idea to fruition and to God for the opportunity and provision to create again. This was pleasantly unexpected. After getting no after no from so many festivals I almost lost hope and confidence in my writing and directing. Then I got a yes from @s.o.u.l.fest , followed by a nomination for best screenplay, then winning the award for best screenplay. I had no idea what to say because I wasn't expecting to win. The thing is this, many people have told me they enjoyed and were moved bye whenever you're ready and I appreciate them for that. But it's different when recognition comes from your industry peers. God knows when to add a little spice to get you to lift your head and keep on keeping on. This was my spice. He doesn't tarry.

Happy and honoured that "Whenever You're Ready" the third entry in my *Prism of a Black Male* collection, a series of short films that depict Black men in diverse situations and narratives will be playing at the S.O.U.L Film Fest at the end of the month.
