it’s called “ELF MUSIC” 🧝🎶 ™
sunburnt baroque pop via warped kids tv & old hollywood, scrunched electronics, winds, glinters, munchkins, noise bumps, fake orchestras, backwards bits + cassette wobble
woven together, unpicked + stitched again at home sept 2020 to march 2024 across several recording mediums - a long & doubtful gestation period, stoked it made it out 🙏🏻
this one marks the finale of icebeing as a solo recording project 💐 since this one started we have become a band and will be recording as such for the next bit 🫶

the ‘new’ album, available on limited vinyl @bellaunionprivatepressing and all streaming services! 🌀
i wrote and recorded striped at home 3-4 years ago. i wanted to make an album I’d have loved as a kid - lots of blown-out drums + digital mess + blaring organs 🎹
it’s an explorative, introspective, scrappy little multicoloured record, mostly recorded sitting on my bed surrounded by keyboards + xylos + noisemakers + power supplies etc. drums were mostly done in the kitchen 🧑🍳

it’s wild to see this get a wider release a few years later. a huge thank you to @mrsimonraymonde , @madelaineburton , @lukejarvis and everyone at @bella_union who’s worked on this and helped make such a cool release, it’s a dream 🙏🏻✨
and a huge thank you also to @chris_lemonde_audio for a sterling mastering job (can’t have been easy) and an even bigger job mixing the whole thing in dolby atmos (definitely not easy) truly insane 🙏🏻✨

recorded in a day with dec haughian (@awk_well ) of the brill @ceanncapaill 🫶
no pre-conceived ideas going in, moves conjured on the day
we layered up a crop of first takes on a whim, picked off the instruments one by one & treated them on the spot, final mix by the evening ✨
released here in an EP with 3 bonus slabs not on the album - “sweeter reddish” got repurposed for the final track, “pinwheel” took a less electronic form in the end, & “swords” got welded together the other night using samples & stems from the album

Built through an online back-and-forth exchange, the EP deconstructs and reimagines three tracks from Unfold in the Sky, while introducing three brand-new songs.
‘HAYBOY’ and ‘Orange Peel’—both revisited by Jack in various forms over the past decade—are smoothed and reworked with Luke’s bleeps, bloops, and stretched-out samples.
Meanwhile, ‘Stuck’, the newest and most leftfield piece here, transforms a vulnerable, pitched-up demo fragment into something adrift, carried on a tide of discarded orchestral textures.“
