[This is a REPOST; changes have been made to the date and venue of the event, please read carefully.] IC DroneSoc & @kcl.robotics are hosting a guest speaker event hosted at Imperial. The talk is named 'Integrating Drone Operations into the Modern Airspace Environment' and will be delivered by Swachchanda Awasare, a systems engineer at Thales Group. Ms Awasare is involved in 'Aerospace of the Future' program, a UKRI funded project which explores the development and implementation of semi-autonomous drones in a busy, regulated environment of Heathrow Airport. The speaker will delve into details about the development process; the design requirements and the consequent constraints and limitations, biggest hurdles to overcome, and the implemented technologies. The event will comprise of the main presentation, a Q&A session, and a social hosted at the IC Union Bar straight after. The event will no doubt prove educational and engaging, and it would be an invaluable opportunity to not only network with Ms Awasare, but also engineering students from all over London. Sign-up for the event can be found on our Linktree in our bio. 📍Where: IC South Kensington Campus, City and Guilds Building, Lecture Theatre 664 📅 When: Thursday 8th December ⌚Time: 18:00 – 20:00 The attendees range from: @aerosocimperial @icavproject @kclengsoc @kcltech @kclspace @kclcybersociety @kclwistem @brunel.engineeringsoc @rhulaerospace @qmairs We hope to see you there :)

Why join IC DroneSoc? 🤔 IC DroneSoc is a student run initiative based in Imperial College London. We are London's leading hotspot for drone pilots, engineers and enthusiasts. Our structure consists of two divisions: the Racing Team and the Engineering Team. The Racing Team specialises in building and developing high-speed FPV drones to participate in racing competitions across the UK and Europe such as IUDRO (which we won in ’19), BDRA Championships etc. 🏆 On the other hand, the Engineering Team works on projects to solve real world problems, such as Project Atlas, where the main goal is to develop a modular quadcopter for surveillance and monitoring purposes incorporating elements drawn from our past programmes, the Silent Drone Project and our custom trained object detection and classification programme, PODS. ⚙️ Our society actively participates in community events such as workshops with other universities, seminars with industry leading firms, and outreach programmes. 😊 Visit the link in bio for upcoming activities, and for information on how you can get involved.
