I spent the month of June at @kubaresidency taking much needed time to reconnect with slower more internal studio processes. One of the things that came of my time there is this photo series titled “transmutations”. Through disconnecting with my usual way of making and waiting to see what caught my attention, I came across this red fabric. It felt like a live creature out against the green of the forest, it jumped out into space and I followed it.

Part of my “transmutations” photo series from my time at @kubaresidency involved making a nettle shirt, absorbing the stings with my bare hands, a nod to the wild swans story ( by Hans Christian Anderson) with it the implication of what it takes to grow and transform into your next phase of being in the world and beyond obstacles.
