We thought we already knew a thing or two about patience. We did not. Raising a puppy is the most honest brief we’ve ever taken on. She’ll get there when she gets there. @iamtextile and Tokio’s first day together. 🥺

Emerging Talent Award 2026 Jury Chair: @iamtextile 🧡🪽 For the second year in a row, Jury Chair Borre Akkersdijk assembled a jury that brings together voices that show the power of Dutch design today: pioneers who have disrupted the industry, who champion new formats, and who recognise the need to regain a shared momentum. In doing so, Borre outlined the responsibility for the established generation of Dutch designers to open up space again. “Not only to recognise talent, but to create the conditions for a new generation to grow, connect, and redefine what design can be.” Borre Akkersdijk is a Dutch designer and innovator based in Amsterdam. Known for his pioneering work in the larger textile industry ( from fiber - end product ) as founder of @byborre , Borre has long explored how materials, systems, and storytelling can come together to shape more meaningful ways of making. In 2025, he co-founded Patience ®️; a collective built on the belief that meaningful work takes time. With Patience ®️, Borre extends his practice beyond textiles into a multidisciplinary space where texture, taste, sound, and scent intersect. Through collaborations, events, and evolving products, Patience ®️ cultivates a slower, more deliberate approach to creativity. 🏆 Deadline is approaching - nominate the talents who inspire you for the Emerging Talent Award 2026 via #linkinbio by 15 May, 23:59 CEST. Supported by @keepaneyefoundation , a longstanding partner in championing young talent. . . . 📸 Borre portrayed by @heyjohankramer

This didn’t start with a brief. Someone asked how long I’ve spent on it. And the honest answer is years. It began in Milan. A conversation that turned into a rave. And never really stopped. Since then, the dialogue has kept unfolding. Quietly. Consistently. During Milan Design Week, a year after that rave but still while everything else was being shown off, performed, announced… we hosted something else together. UNSAID. Conversations no one else was having. The elephants in the room. So when Borre (@iamtextile ) invited me to help shape Patience - a brand, if you can call it that - I was all in. Because this isn’t really about brand. It’s about a shift. From brand system to knowledge system. Not what it looks like. How it thinks. Patience Papers is the first expression of that. Issue 000 : A design research paper asks what it means to make with intention, and introduces this shift - from brand system to knowledge system. A signal more than a statement. And so it seems appropriate, does it not, that this will launch at this years Milan at Design Week, @isaloniofficial . If you’re there, find @iamtextile and get a copy. Borre. Thank you for inviting me to be part of this. I can’t wait to see it unfold. Love. Dutch Design Awards opens nominations for the 2026 Emerging Talent Award-repositioning a new generation of designers working at the forefront of the field. 👉 Nominate now: link in bio. 🗓️ Deadline: 15 May. 🧡🪽 Two decades in, the question is no longer just recognizing the “best” or most promising individual designers, but how to bring them into a shared context—where new ideas, collaborations, and directions can take shape collectively. Selected nominees will form the Dutch Design Awards Class of 2026, a group of emerging designers brought together through a shared framework for recognition, exchange, and development. “We must reclaim our collective thinking,” says Borre Akkersdijk @iamtextile , Jury Chair Dutch Design Awards 2026 “Dutch Design was forged by a shared mindset. We’ve built the legacy; now we move forward. Awards need to be the fertile ground for a new generation to converge and redefine design today.” . . . 🏆 The Emerging Talent Award is made possible by @keepaneyefoundation , a longstanding partner championing young design talent. ♦️ Dutch Design Awards 2026
