📱⚡ Tech Seminar = Navigating the Future with Enthusiasm! 🤖🚦 We heard from an incredible panel featuring Alesheia Baccous, Sala Bozeman Dean, Kendall Callhoun, Jordan Hill, and Uche Ugwunze, who each shared their unique journeys across the tech industry. Their stories highlighted how they discover, build, and channel enthusiasm throughout their careers, staying driven, adaptable, and committed to growth along the way. Students also took part in our Game Day Navigation Challenge, where they programmed Sphero Bots to act as autonomous rideshares, navigating passengers through Houston streets and traffic from major sports venues. The activation brought real-world problem solving to life, showing how technology powers the future of transportation and city movement. Thank you to our panelists for pouring into the next generation and showing our students how passion and enthusiasm fuel success in tech. I recently had the honor of speaking at my first speaking engagement with Bee’s Believers tech seminar about spreading enthusiasm in tech! We had an amazing panel at Rice University, sharing measurable career insights and my personal cybersecurity journey. It was a blast being able to have this moment with the students and see their eyes open to the world of opportunities. I also enjoyed connecting with fellow panelists Alesheia, Kendall, Jordan, and Uche! Another one of the highlights of the seminar, was watching the students use Sphero BOLT+ robots and navigating the city of Houston using math and programming skills to simulate Uber ride-share across the inner loop! Literally blew my mind! 🤯 I’m looking forward to more opportunities like this in the community. PT. 2 GRC Blueprint 101 1. Soft skills, you probably already have them. Apply the experience you already have, leverage it, and align it to core governance risk and compliance concepts. 2. Build your network, intentionally. Make lasting professional relationships (at work, mixers, conferences, online, etc.) by asking below the surface career questions and doing your homework before reaching out for help so that you have a foundation to start with. People tend to be more open with their time when you show that you’re proactive and consistent. 3. Keep your resume simple, but impactful. Aim to keep everything on 1 page, 2 maximum. Frame your experience and project bulletin points in a situation, action taken for a solution, then result format-preferably with quantitative data to support. 4. Use the S.T.A.R method in your interviews. State the situation, the task that was required, the action you took to resolve the task, then the result. For bonus ducks, you can wrap it up in a bow by sharing what you learned from that particular situation. Keep 3-5 go-to work related stories prepared for interviews, make sure you’re detailed but concise, don’t ramble endlessly. Bonus Tips: Take the job description, highlight the key words (Like POA&M, RMF, audit management, continuous monitoring, etc.) use an online tool to create mock interview questions and practice your skills. Aim to schedule your interviews towards the beginning or end of the week, so either way you’re the first thing on their mind at the week start or the lasting impression to the conclusion of their work week. 📚 #cybersecurity #grc #job #goals #explore
