Thank you @ellegarden_official for the amazing trip and hospitality. Was so dope to see tens of thousands of people enjoy our work! In the last slide, I was wandering Kyoto in the middle of the night and just started walking into whatever open doors I could find because I couldnt read any signs to see what was open or what they served. The people who were hanging in this one were so friendly and we ended up drinking a whole lot of sake and the bartender started taking pictures of us hahaha. I love you Japan 🇯🇵 see you again soon!
🥀 Surprise!!? It was important to me to get this one out there before the new year. I’ll try to keep this short.
You may be surprised to know hear that it’s more challenging than you’d imagine to talk about your issues honestly in music, especially in a time when doing so feels increasingly performative. That’s what a lot of stuff feels like to me. I’ve remained thoughtful about how I handle the truth, often veiled it in a few layers of lyricism in hopes that when I really say something, it matters- and you listen. In hopes that when I sing about myself, and what I’ve dealt with, you know I mean it and I’m not saying something for numbers. I let go of all that for this song and came at it head on. All I really have to say is that if I did a good job, this story should tell itself.
