had the loveliest Mother’s Day with my not-so-little boy yesterday, made beautiful and possible by @jogia 💛 I got lots of sweet gifts but the best one was Ender reading me an entire book cover to cover for the first time. I just sat there in awe, like my whole body was frozen with pride and connection and delirium at how quickly time flies. I became a mother 4 years and 10 months ago. At first, everything changed and I thought I’d never be myself again. Then, slowly, I felt it all settle back into place. I was arrogant before I had my son. I thought I’d be able to handle the changes and new demands effortlessly. I thought I was “built different”. But I was quickly humbled by the crashing realization that I’m actually built the same as everybody else. And it would exactly as hard for me as I had heard from so many other moms it was for them. Once I learned to embrace it and let go of my tight grip on needing control, it got a lot easier. It’s not the path that everyone wants or needs, but for me it was so right and so important. I love being a mom. It requires that I believe in magic.
Our Hero Balthazar marathon week. If you’re in NY or LA get out and see it immediately!!!! I’m impossibly honored to be a producer on this film. A very special kind of talent and dedication came together to make @skipmccoy singular vision possible, and it shows on that big ass screen. And as the screenings have commenced it’s been just so unbelievably FUN to be with this group of great people. GO MEET BALTHY!!! (Favorite slide is @asabopp in line for popcorn at a fuckin mall while hundreds of people watch the movie he stars in 2 doors down. King behavior)
