Emmanuel is a visual artist with a focus on photography. He is a visual artist and photographer from Nigeria. He blends mediums and meanings in his photographs by engaging with materials unconventionally. He leans toward experimental techniques to create stimulating photographs. He approaches his work as self-inquiry, probing identity, representation and his cultural influences in the Nigerian context and broadly, Africa.
On the shores of Tarkwa Bay, Surrender captures a moment suspended between control and collapse.
The figure lies still as the waves break over him, caught between holding on and letting go. The elongated title mirrors that drawn-out instant where surrender resists itself. It’s a study in breath and weight, a meditation on what it means to yield to forces greater than ourselves.
