This past week has felt like a meaningful reminder of the responsibility and privilege that comes with shaping culture and contributing to the wider world.
Being named by @artcube as one of the 10 individuals shaping the art world today with @withoutshapewithoutform is something I receive with deep gratitude, and a sense of responsibility to continue learning, listening, and building with care.
From attending the opening of the new and hopeful V&A East, to an invitation to 10 Downing Street, to a thoughtful dinner by @jpads91 called ‘Is This Seat Taken’, where new connections, friends and conversations reminded me of the importance of shared space and dialogue.
I was also thrilled to be on the selection committee for the Venice Architectural Biennale 2027, alongside an extraordinary group of thinkers and practitioners. The announcement of the team felt like a moment that reflects a broader collective effort to shape how we imagine and build the world ahead. Looking forward supporting their journey @guan_lee_@idk_office@mariaemclintock@benswabyselig
Feeling grateful for the trust, the people, and the ongoing conversations that continue to expand what feels possible.
For 90 minutes, the room gathered around a single thread - SIMRAN. Not as performance, but as practice. As a tool. As a way to connect to oneself.
The audience didn’t simply watch. They entered the field of listening - repeating, responding, becoming part of the unfolding.
What emerged was Total Response: a space where sound, voice, and presence met in one shared practice.
Deep gratitude to the artists who stepped into the moment:
Carlos Niño
Surya Botofasina
Austin Williamson
Michael Alvidrez
with
Ishmael Butler
Angel Bat Dawid
and @koi_unnamed , guiding and voicing Simran.

This moment continues to echo forward, helping shape Awakened by the Unstruck - opening September 2027 at the Wellin.
What does it take to hone your artistic discipline?
Ahead of their performance in New York, Ishmael Butler of @shabazzpalaces and @nepsidhu join @iamdeepkailey in conversation to reflect on what it means to commit fully to an artistic practice.
Exploring their creative connection, they discuss the compulsion to create, and the passion, discipline and repetition required to continuously evolve their work and themselves.
Ish is a Grammy-winning musician and pioneer (Digable Planets, Shabazz Palaces), celebrated for his experimental approach to sonic architecture. Nirbhai (nep) Singh Sidhu is an interdisciplinary practitioner whose work explores the metaphysics of form and spatial rhythm within community. Together, they reflect a deep commitment to artistic growth, experimentation and the continual evolution of creative practice.
