We have exciting news! IABR 2026 SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT is to be held at the former Hunter Douglas site 📣 The International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam is organizing IABR 2026 SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT at the Hunter Douglas site in Rotterdam-Feijenoord. With this edition, the IABR explores how this former factory can be the site to research and build shared values. Which systemic changes are needed to make a neighbourhood fairer, more socially and ecologically sustainable, and economically just? And how does one ensure that transformation actually works for current and future residents, entrepreneurs, and users? What remains after a factory disappears? For SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT, Bureau LADA reflects on scenography as a spatial practice rooted in embodied memory, social interconnectivity, and spatial justice. Set within the former Hunter Douglas factory in Rotterdam, the project explores how traces of labor, infrastructure, and collective histories continue to shape space even after the machines are gone. Read the publication by Atelier Delta Rijnmond-Drechtsteden 2100 🌊 What will the Rijnmond-Drechtsteden region look like in 2100? In this publication, the IABR explores possible future scenarios for a climate-resilient delta, with an eye to water safety, the economy, and the living environment. Through design-based research, choices are made visible that help us determine the direction for tomorrow, today. We would like to thank our atelier masters, Dirk Sijmons and Lodewijk van Nieuwenhuijze. The design research is conducted by De Urbanisten, H+N+S Landscape Architects, and PosadMaxwan. Jelmer Teunissen joins as junior designer and generational challenger, helping shape long-term perspectives for the region. The commissioning core team - the Municipality of Rotterdam, the Municipality of Dordrecht, the Province of South Holland, DPRD, and the Port Authority - is closely involved. 🌍 Figuring Planetary Space: Abandoning Man’s Measure How has the way we picture space shaped how we design, think, and inhabit the world? IABR’s Agent of Change - Patricia Reed @a.m._patricia traces how Western spatial models - from Renaissance perspective to the idea of “Man as measure” - have shaped centuries of architectural and philosophical thinking. The project asks what it means to move beyond these inherited frameworks toward a planetary understanding: one that sees humans not as central observers, but as embedded within complex ecological and cosmic systems. 👉 Read more and download the full research on iabr.nl #linkinbio #IABR #AgentofChange #planetaryspace #patriciareed

Curator @martina.muzi on IABR 2026 SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT: Design today is deeply entangled with global crises - shaped by dominant systems and uneven power. At the same time, it’s a dynamic, systemic practice: from local networks in Rotterdam to global, community-led and activist approaches where institutions fall short. SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT is both urgent and inspirational - rethinking values, methods, and shared responsibility across ecology, education, and practice. It asks: how can design become a support system in itself? Read the full story at iabr.nl 🔗 #IABR #IABR2026 #SOS #SYSTEMSOFSUPPORT Video at Paaltjesmuseum, Rotterdam. @sabinevandervooren
