🚨 Artists not getting paid by galleries is not new. But it is getting worse. As gallery owners, we understand the financial pressures this industry carries. We have watched galleries close and artists go without. 💔 We know how real it is.
But none of that changes the responsibility to pay artists 💰what is owed. Holding onto, delaying, or disappearing is not an answer to financial hardship.
A gallery's role is not passive. ❤️ It is the protector of the work, the respecter of the vision, and the one who understands that behind every piece is a person with needs, stories, and something worth honoring and paying them for!
Your work has value. Your time has value. ✨ Following up on what you are owed is not being ungrateful or difficult.
💛 Connect with your fellow artists. Check in before you work with a gallery and learn from each other's experiences. Gallerists do the same when considering a new artist relationship. We reach out to peers and ask about working history. It goes both ways.
Community is one of the most powerful tools we have right now.

Hannah Flowers was born in 1989 on Tasmania’s rugged shores, and now makes her home in the misty mountains of Scotland, where the surrounding Nature and rich history fuel her creative spirit. Her subjects, despite often appearing compromised, exude a quiet power beneath their soft and feminine exterior.
Every detail in her work is crafted with care, using the finest quality pigments and materials while employing time-honoured techniques. Hannah prefers a hands-on, traditional approach, deliberately avoiding digital mediums and screens in favour of a more romantic, tactile process. Her passion for authentic craftsmanship infuses each piece with emotion and depth, capturing the complex interplay of beauty and dissonance that defines life.
💫 New Article: Facebook’s Free Music Isn’t Free The Copyright Crisis Putting Artists, Galleries, and Curators at Risk 💀🤬
👉 Read Article: /facebook-copyright-crisis-putting-artists-galleries-curators-at-risk/
If you are a visual artist using Facebook or Instagram to share your work, promote your exhibitions, or build your audience, there is a legal situation developing that you need to understand. It involves music you may have been using in good faith directly from Meta’s own platforms, and it has implications that go well beyond what most artists realize.
This is not about streaming music illegally or downloading tracks from questionable sources. This is about music that Facebook itself offered you, freely, through its built-in audio tools and why using it may not be as safe as it appeared.

Jel Ena grew up surrounded by art. Raised in Belgrade, Serbia by a painter father and painter mother, she came to the work not as a choice but as an inheritance, and eventually, an inevitability.
After relocating to Los Angeles in the ’90s, her palette brightened and her practice evolved in directions she never fully planned. Today she is best known for her expressive, character-driven cat paintings, made under the Instagram handle Mister Jellyfish, where a devoted community has grown around her work. We sat down with her to talk about change, connection, and what it means to follow the work wherever it leads.
A little glimpse behind the work…
