Surviving Earth is showing from today! Its artistic colour palette, stunning cinematography and powerful plot based on a true story are just a few reasons why we recommend it.
Years after fleeing military conscription during the Yugoslav conflict, Vlad, a talented harmonica player, is building a community in Bristol, working as a drug counsellor and starting a Balkan band with his friends.

“Whilst The Christophers features small comic turns from James Corden and Jessica Gunning as Julian’s scheming offspring, really this is a two-hander with Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel shining in the two leads. Both are magnificent, though McKellen in particular feels like he slips almost too easily into his character. Cruel, brilliant, charismatic, lonely…it’s Gandalf’s darker twin, and it’s a thrill to watch, balanced perfectly against Michaela Coel’s restrained performance of a damaged character, now protecting herself and prowling for revenge in the same breath.”
Wendy, Head of Cinema.
The Christophers is this week's #HydeParkPick. You can read Wendy's full review on our journal or @letterboxd (links in bio) 🎨
We think @davidattenborough would be proud of our Hyde & Seek programming this week. For our toddler-friendly screening tomorrow, we've got the classic Bambi, a heart-warming animation about a young deer and their forest friends. And over the weekend, we've got Arco, a wondrous odyssey filled with hope and optimism for our future, despite also tackling themes of environmental collapse 🌎

We're HUGE Ben Wheatley fans here at HPPH, so we're taking this opportunity to share some lovely photos from when he joined us for a Q&A screening of Bulk in January, and also shout about his new film Normal, which we're delighted to be screening from Friday.
Normal mixes the folky darkness of Fargo with the conspiratorial chaos of Hot Fuzz into 90-minutes of humorous bloody mayhem.
