I’ve said something a lot lately. if I was to die today and go meet Jesus I’d hope to hear the words “well done, good and faithful servant”.

As I’ve thought about that I realized, I don’t know if he’d even say the first adjective. “Good”. How could I ever be sure?

So I don’t know if I’m “good” yet in the eyes of the lord, but I know what makes me better.

It’s men like @graysongregory and the rest of the men and that I live and work with here at @refuge_foundation . It’s those god has placed around me that push me to be better. To be good. And for that I’m incredibly thankful.

I’m often asked “what’s the most important thing you’ve learned since you’ve been at Refuge?” I tend to give a thoughtful answer about how I feel like the “playing field” has been leveled, or some prepackaged one liner I plagiarized from a guest. But recently, as I’ve reflected on the past 4 years I’ve come to I different answer. It’s really just the simple truth that people are the most valuable thing we have. The relationships built and stories lived out alongside real people.
After 4 years serving with some of the very best people here at @refuge_foundation , I’m making a big transition. In just a few weeks I’m moving across the country to Middle Tennessee, where I will marry the woman of my dreams.

I wish I could personally thank each and every person I’ve spoken with beside fire or in a drift boat over the past few years. You all have made a deep impression on who I am and more importantly, who I’d like to be.

@graysongregory is the kind of friend you make sure to save a whole chapter for, in the book you haven’t written yet…The type of friend who you have just as much fun hiding from a thunderstorm, as the you do crawling through the woods trying to be quiet but then bust out laughing for god knows what reason! 😂
I’m gonna have a lot of good stories to tell about our times together. I’ll also have really great pictures to put in said book.
