Transphobia is not feminism. Its mysogyny. Why else would would trans women be attacked for their femininity? Hatred of trans women is rooted in hatred of women. TERFs reinforce the patriarchy by their oppression of trans women. Stop this misogynistic hate now.

Art in a Time of Genocide is a public assembly for people who work in the arts in Hull to talk about how we can respond to genocide, fascism and climate collapse. How do we meet this moment? Not just in terms of the content of our art, but also the conditions in which we make it, the people we make it with and for, and its function within wider movements for social and systems change. Our aim is to hold a welcoming, non-hierarchical space from 1-4pm on Saturday 17 January, with attendees setting the agenda on the day, so we can reflect on these big issues through open and honest conversation. Inspired by people’s assemblies and Open Space technology, participants will suggest breakout topics after an introductory discussion, in which we can share what has brought us here and the thoughts that keep us awake at night or drive the work we do each day.  This assembly is for arts workers first and foremost, but anybody with an interest in arts and culture is welcome to attend. The focus will be on what we can do as arts workers, with all the restrictions and pressures that entails, alongside the skills, resources, connections and knowledge we can bring as art workers.  Please RSVP: https://buytickets.at/artinatimeofgenocide/1928070 For further info: [email protected]

The far-right are back! This saturday, three separate far-right groups will march in Hull city centre. Their message? Protecting women and children against grooming gangs. Their real goal? To spread misinformation and stir up anger against asylum seekers. We know who the real threat are. We all know that the real threat to women and children comes straight from the top. Real grooming gangs sit at the heart of this country and the world’s elite. Prince Andrew. Peter Mandelson. Donald Trump. Jeffrey Epstein. WE NEED YOU Join us on Saturday and show them we will not be misled. We will not blame the most vulnerable among us for the systemic wrongs in this country. We need to unite in the face of division, come together, and take the fight to the real threat.

Join us at 12pm on Saturday the 6th September outside Hull train station to demo against the far right's constant attacks on hotels housing refugees. The far right weaponises the lie that their priority is protecting women and children but we see through their sorry attempt to disguise racism and hatred of minority groups. The far right have never cared about women's rights - Reform party leader Nigel Farage aligns himself with Andrew Tate, a self proclaimed misogynist wanted for sex trafficking. Farage aligns himself with Donald Trump, a man with countless sexual assault allegations, and best friend of Jeffrey Epstein. Farage claims women are worth less than men in the workplace due to maternity leave. Farage wants to roll back abortion rights.. Do we really think the far right wants to protect women?

Stand Up to Racism are organising a counter demonstration to a far right rally at the Cenotaph. The far right are demonstrating against asylum seekers being housed and supported, and blaming all asylum seekers for the predatory behaviour of one particular man who used to be housed at the hotel before he was jailed. Please join the counter protest to reject this scapegoating and especially to visibly show support to people living in the hotel

Shame on @prideinhull - drop Reckitt from your sponsors. The action today was to raise awareness of Reckitt's investment in Israeli AI companies whose programmes are being used by the IDF. End this corporate pinkwashing of pride. Take action against Reckitt investment in Israeli AI companies that have developed the programmes being used in the genocide of Gaza. Leverage labour to end their deal with the Israeli Innovation Authority.

Thank you Hull! As you can see, today the Hull Patriotic Protesters drew in a large crowd of curious people. The reality is that the betrayals and oppression of our government, along with living in the shadow of war and poverty, are leaving people afraid and with little else to turn to. The counter protest drew out about 50 people. Thank you to everyone who organised and attended. It was good to meet new faces, hold conversations and give out stickers, cake and bustcards. I think all of us felt the urgency of being there today, out of fear for the future of Hull. Unfortunately today we were vastly outnumbered by a message of hate and fear. Despite this, the protest today has left us determined to hope. Hope keeps us organising, resisting and loving. I’m sure we’ll need to call on you again, this is a fight we have to win together, by showing that the real solutions to our problems start with love and compassion. Not with far right hate and vitriol.

HULL! Once again it’s time to stand against hate in our city! See you there at 11am on July 19th in Queen Victoria Square. Post reads: “On the 3rd August 2024, the Hull Patriotic Protesters brought a riot to our city. They attempted to hurt our community and targeted people’s lives and livelihoods but we showed them the strength of the people of Hull, united. Almost a year later, this group is rallying again. They’re using the betrayals of our government and the ruling class to sow hatred, violence and division among ordinary people. The real enemy of the working class travels by private jet, not migrant dingy The only way is to show them that hate will not stand in our city. We will be there on July 19th to say that Hull stands against Hate. Please join us in standing together, united in solidarity, courage and community. Let’s show them that there has to be a better way!”

A statement from the activists who did the court sit in at the Hull Combined Court Centre. End the scapegoating of trans people! Gender should not be discussed or debated in courts. Laws about trans people should not be made without consulting trans people. Shame on the Supreme Court. Shame on For Women Scotland. Shame on JK Rowling.

Whilst waiting in support for those sat bravely inside the court, one protester gave a rousing speech to the group outside. The sit in at Hull Combined Court Centre was done to let the Supreme Court know that these people reject your harmful laws, that they have no right to define our gender by our birth sex.

See the moment as the protesters left the court building, after successfully holding the sit-in for over an hour! 🏳️‍⚧️ Disobey Westminster laws that don't serve us. Reject the idea that gender is defined by biological sex. Resist divide and conquer tactics by millionaire lobbyists. Stand together with women everywhere!
