Took a break from cat sitting to play bmx bandits with @matt_coplon in Ybor City. History class was in session (thanks Matt) and Ybor has tons of it to learn. #tampa #deathmetalcapitaloftheworld

Orlando weekend. My #G1600XL back to life and rehoused after many years in literal pieces via @perpetualscream and @ninetofortyeight head is blazing. Unreal. Endless thanks to @ninetofortyeight for always going above and beyond and orchestrating everything. Also hella thanks to riff bro @performaction for coming through with the early morning pickup in Flagler and back to Orlando on very short notice. Good times with @alexlomelli @mike_saffran and o.g. Willie the Dog. Side note this head was used on @cavityad Supercollider record. Also my first time in a while standing in front of some cabs and playing. Was fun.

Woke up this morning with zero plans and ended up having a totally over the top great day. Many thanks to my dude @matt_coplon for the very last minute hookup to the second of two sold out @reversalofman shows in Tampa. 25 years off and was ruthless. Well done dudes. Saw a ton of old friends. Stoked to see @alexisdesolneux all the way from France and many thanks to @spinachfl for giving me his personal cat themed Assuck hoodie. Tampa represented hard AF tonight.

RIP Brent Hinds. I first met Brent in 1998 when he showed up to a Cavity show covered in motor oil as we were loading out. He said his car broke down, missed the show and asked if I could give him a ride home. I did. From first meeting it was apparent that Brent was wild as hell and a total original. On the drive to his place I remember him mentioning he played guitar but didn’t elaborate as to what he was into or anything that led me to think “this dude is a crazy level player”. This was a few years before Mastodon became a band. Fast forward to early 2001 and we crossed paths again when both Dove and Mastodon shared a bill opening for Morbid Angel. Over the following years we played a bunch of shows together, attended each others shows when possible and had many great times. I wouldn’t say we were super close but our friendship was more than just band dudes who occasionally run into each other. While Brent had a reputation for being a wild card, in all my time around him I was always treated with kindness, encouragement, generosity and respect. Dude could get lit and together we had a few excessive evenings but in my experiences with him any mischievousness on his part always came from a place of humor and adventure. In my opinion Brent was confident in his playing, highly creative, tough as nails and definitely fearless on every level. 100 percent about that life. I’m grateful to have known him and wish peace for his family and those close to him. Much love Brent, thank you for the great times. Rest easy.

If you are anywhere close to @jessieslounge Winter Haven on Feb 17th please come out to the benefit for our dude Jon Turner aka Syrup Jon. Jon has been handed a set of difficult circumstances and needs all of us to pull together. There is a link in my bio for his gofundme which explains his situation in detail.

Thanks dudes. Also @officialbcrich @floydroseofficial @daddarioandco y’all feel free to send me stuff.

@alternative.mia has pressed up 305 cd copies of our 2016 self titled record for those of you who still get down real time with a physical format. Link to purchase in bio. We had big plans back in 2016 for this record but life took an unexpected turn and we’ve been on hold since while maintaining hope that one day we can fire it up again. Much love to all parties involved in making this record. Repost from @alternative.mia - “ 7 years after the completion of this recording, Alternative MIA is extremely proud to present to you the Self-Titled HOUSE OF LIGHTNING album in physical CD format. . Due to all kinds of complications, this album was put on the shelf until finally becoming a digital only release when the band went on a hiatus. It's safe to say that there's absolutely nothing like this album, and we LOVE it. Without having to write some long winded description of a record that can't be compared to anything else, the accolades of the people involved in this should speak for itself. This record features Henry Wilson on guitar/vocals (FLOOR, DOVE), Eric Hernandez on bass (TORCHE, CAPSULE, WRONG), and Rick Smith on drums (TORCHE, SHITSTORM, CAVEMAN CULT). Initial tracking on the album was done by Jon Nuñez (TORCHE, SHITSTORM), and additional tracking and mixing by Ryan Haft (CAPSULE, WRONG). Mastered by Alan Douches. Additional vocals and lead vocals on Small Hours by Melissa Hope Friedman. Artwork by Mike Winkelmann (). . Limited to 305 copies only. Listen here: houseoflightning.bandcamp.com/ “

Shout out and happy birthday to my dude @matt_coplon I met Matt in the early 90’s when we were both teenagers floating around the Tampa hardcore scene. Many might know Matt as the ferocious frontman for legendary @reversalofman or through his massive contribution to bmx via his own riding and being @profile_racing team manager for decades now. In all the years I’ve known Matt he has been unwavering in being a stand up guy willing to help in any way he can and speak up against the ills of the world big or small. I could go on forever singing Matt’s praises. Matt for his 45th birthday released a bmx edit featuring the Cavity @cavityad song Supercollider that I played drums on many years ago. Matt over the years has used many songs I’ve played on and every time it’s an honor. Many thanks and best wishes to Matt, here’s to many more years on wheels. Video link in Matt’s bio.
