With a dated 1980s layout, this home was in dire need of a facelift.
In the main living area, we focused on various things that over the years, had become cumbersome to the homeowners.
In the old layout, a spiral staircase created lots of dead space in the kitchen. So in the new layout, we squared off the staircase to maximize on functional pantry storage.
The living room and dining room were split in two by a fireplace that jutted out in the middle of the room. This made the everything feel unnecessarily disjointed. By removing the fireplace entirely, we were able to connect the dining, living, and kitchen into 1 cohesive space.

Functional spaces come in all shapes and sizes! That’s why it was necessary to create a custom pantry for this young family, that was tailored to their specific needs.
The pantry was a space that, after a full home renovation, was still left unfinished. @homedom_build left this an empty room, knowing they would be leaving it in good hands with Christie! She created a design that was not only catered to their needs, but also aligned with @housemilldesign ’s style in the rest of the house.
We created easy access points to the frequently reached-for items like snacks, as well as the daily cooking staples, and for those more cumbersome pieces and appliances, we hid them away in the covered cabinetry.
With so many options for customization, this is where our talented designers come in. Christie worked closely with our clients to determine the best design for their lifestyle, and we’re just thrilled with how it turned out.
